Just finished the excellent " The Father of Forensics" by Colin Evans, which was about one of the most famous criminal forensic pathologists of all time Sir Bernard Splisbury, who was involved in all the most famous murder cases of the first 50 years of the 20t.h century,a fascinating read!
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc...hlqVwpciMMLm_QgHave just started "Danger UXB" by James Owen,a history of the Bomb disposal teams during WW2,at the start of the bombing, not one of these brave men were even trained in how to dismantle a bomb! Again, like the Bomber Command, these men have not been recognised with medals or a memorial.
Owen is a brilliant writer,i have already read two of his previous books and can recommend all of them.

After saying I need to whittle down the reads I have on the go, I just started another one. I went into Waterstones in Bath and came out with five books on Saturday. I have begun The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. It is a book on neurology and psychology.
I bought William Golding's Lord of the Flies as an extra post Birthday present for my boy for coming top of his school in his SATS test. Will read that with him in a fortnight when we have a holiday together. Did it at QPH in Chester.
Also got Sylvia Plath's poetry collection called Ariel. A couple of my girl friends have been raving about her and I am beginning to take to it. Very morbid.
I wanted to buy The Kite Runner but they had sold out, so I got A Thousand Splendid Suns instead which is also by Khaled Hossain.
Also a book of short stories "Our Story Begins" by Tobias Wolff. Heard him interviewed on radio, fascinating man, happy to talk about anything openly, even his childhood sexual fantasies over his mother. His writing is well thought of.
So, as usual, more to read than I can possibly get through especially spending too much time on line.

The Kite Runner is brilliant. Not read his second book, but I've seen reviews which say it's supposed to be even better!
