Is anyone else missing their matchday routine?

Usually on a Saturday I eat a hearty full English breakfast, take a stroll to the shops to pick up the papers, watch the Morning Line on Channel 4 +1, read the papers, place a bet on a game, log on to devachat for any team news, watch Football Focus, make up my flask of coffee, don my scarf and at 2 o'clock make my way to the game. Then I buy a programme, have a pint in the Blues Bar....all pretty standard stuff.

Repetitive maybe, but I'm missing it. Aaaaaahhhhh.

Not long mate. 30th August first home game according to the bloke from Evo-Stik League in the Leader today.

Mine is watch Saturday Kitchen in bed. Bacon sarnie watching football focus. Park somewhere by the Royal Mail and get in for about half two.

This year it will change as there is real ale in the Club, so will probably have to walk to the ground with my 2 lads, who have got their own season tickets for the first time.

Up at about 10am, bacon butty and the rest of Soccer AM, then the X11 from the garden centre in Hawarden/Gladstone down to the Deeside Stadium at around 1-ish.

Get the team-sheets in, test the mic, put the Ipod speaker dock next to the mic, read the teams out, announce the goals (mostly for the opposition last season! wink.gif ), make any other announcements, have a half-time bit of tea and biscuits, watch the game, announce the result, play a song off the Ipod relating to how the game went (It's Tricky by Run DMC was the choice after a defeat to Rhyl), pop in the Celstryn over the car park for GSS and the final scores, then maybe a swift one in the Halfway, then bus home. Then town from 8pm ish...

wake up at lunchtime usually with a stinking hangover lie in bed feeling sorry for myself for a bit, get the call off my dad that he will be picking me up in 15 minutes, jump out of bed grab a shower get dressed complete with nike chester shirt and scarf. get out of the house to find my dad already annoyed with me because he's been waiting 10 minutes my sister follows me out in a worse state than me. get to the ground about 1.45/2.00pm, meet the usuals in the bar, force the first pint of stella down me then enjoy the next 2 and make my way into the ground just in time for kick off. the game will fly by and be a bit of a blur as the stella tops me up from the night before, chicken tikka pie at half time, then it's back into the blues bar for a couple more stellas and a chat then off home.

i haven't done this routine for over a year now and i no longer go out on a friday so i think my routine will be a little bit different, plus i will have my first ever season ticket and will be going with differemt people. either way i can't wait. cityscarf.gif

Yes, great news. As you say though - a walk down there may be the best option now. Unless I go on my bike and NFBF can tow me home biggrin.gif

Your ok mate. Away myself til the 8th, miss a few of the friendlies. NPL1 doesn't kick of til 21st August, we've been given a free week (we are the 23rd team). The FA Cup Prelim rounds are on the 28th (which we are not in), so our first game, already decided to be at home so the NPL say, is on Bank Holiday Monday, 30th August (again, all according to the Leader).

No Chester Races, hopefully be a real bumper crowd. cityscarf.gif

Go and watch my Under 9 team play their fixture that morning, then go home if they played away and get changed, or if their fixture was at home, get changed there and walk into town. Once in town, meet my mate and occasionally one more mate in the pub, have a few pints while watching the lunchtime game on sky before walking to the ground just before 2ish.

Walk to the ground, in recent times it's been watch us lose then back off to the pub after the game to drown our sorrows with the evening kick off on ESPN.

I definately miss the routine, especially the away game routine cityscarf.gif

I look forward to it, seems a fair few are going so a nice early start is called for. Though all those 'dole heads' who went to London surely couldn't afford another day out.....
