Never forget first hearing this. The Robins aren't bobbins.

Franks World Cup song for 2010 - Three shirts on me line (footballs gone next door).

Seems so sad. Top man.

That's really sad news NWAS,a really different, but funny comic, came along about the same time as John Shuttleworth. Very sad. RIP.

A complete one off for me NFBF. A mate of mine was part of a stage invasion back in the late 80's, and Frank held the puppet 'Little Frank' to the microphone to ask the crowd to stop. Top bloke who will be so sadly missed.

I still very much enjoy John Shuttleworth who's humour is timeless, but i have nearly worn out my three CD sets of Count Arthur Strong, never fails to make me smile!

I'll second that. I liked Frank Sidebottom, but found it a bit sad that he did those Safestyle Window ads even though the owner was always on Watchdog for scamming old pensioners.

He'd have known nothing at all about that when he was doing adverts? It was a job to him.

He also was a very talented illustrator and artist, and worked on Bob the Builder amongst other things, and had an early go at pop stardom with the Freshies. Anyone remember their biggest indie chart hit (without Googling it..)?

"I'm in love with the girl on the Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout desk." With the words changed "a certain" replacing Virgin at their insistence.
Brilliant obituary in the Telegraph this morning.

Now a Facebook campaign is on to get his England football song to No.1 before the World Cup finishes.

Its sad to see that he was penniless and his family was struggling to pay for his funeral.
But a facebook page was set up and has so far raised seven grand to pay for a send off.
