Deva Chat - Chester FC Fans Forum > DC - Games > Predict-a-score!

Hello all,

Welcome to Deva Chat’s World Cup 2010 predict-a-score, this competition will be run in the same way that the usual P-A-S works, for those of you who are not familiar with this then points will be awarded as follows:

If you correctly predict the outcome of the game (Win/Lose/Draw) you will receive 1 point

If you correctly predict the score of the game (e.g England 2 Brazil 0) you will receive an additional 2 points

You can also score points by predicting who will score, 1 point will be awarded per correctly predicted scorer. Points can only be scored by predicting the scorer IF you have got the correct result!

Due to the shear amount of games (64) and time constraints we will not be predicting over the entire World Cup, however...

Predictions will begin covering only the England group stage matches which are:

Saturday 12th June- 19:30 - England v USA
Friday 19th June – 19:30 - England v Algeria
Wednesday 23rd June – 15:00 - Slovenia v England

Then after the opening 3 P-A-S matches, the competition gets into full flow and will cover:

ALL last 16 matches
ALL quarters finals
Both Semi Finals
3rd and 4th place playoff
The Final

Threads for the England matches are open now and threads for the knockout matches will be opened in due course.

Any further questions?

Good Luck!

I think I will join in in this. Think its a little silly the way we are only predicting England's group scores, however. Is there not a way in which each player could be randomly allocated, say, 6 group games to predict during the group stages, on top of England's, 2 each "game week"

Done completely randomly, it will add to the fun, I think. It will also create a decent bit of banter of posters "luck of the draw".

Couldn't we make other predictions for the other big games in the Group stage, e.g Cameroon v Holland, Portugal v Brazil etc?

Forecasting all the games would create too much work for us to cope with, so that's why we went for the format Phill outlined above. With 3 games a day, it would take too long to calculate everything in the first round.

One thing to add to the 'rules' though. Please note that all threads will be set to auto-close ONE HOUR before kick-off to try and make sure forecasts are made before any team news is announced.

As in previous competitions, late forecasts will not be allowed for any reason, so please make sure you make your predictions in good time.

Thank you.

"Points can only be scored by predicting the scorer IF you have got the correct result"

is that if you get the correct outcome (win, lose, draw) or the correct score?
phill
Only if you get the correct score mate.

Just to make it clear that as usual in P-A-S all predictions are only valid in 'normal time'. Therefore points will be calcuated BEFORE extra time.

For example:

If you predict Argentina 2 - Mexico 1 but the score at the end of normal time is 1-1 you will score no points no matter what happens in extra time.

Good point to make, well done phill.

As always, PAS points will be awarded based on the score after 90 minutes (normal full time), regardless of what happens in extra-time.

Also, as before, threads will auto-close 1 hour before kick-off, so please get your predictions in early!
