Seem to have been getting some very positive reviews.
'till the end
Have to find where I left my iPod touch for this

i'm getting a 3GS this week, at last - will definitely be looking at this
tom - chesterr
I nearly downloaded a management game the other day but want one similar or same as the computer one and the reviews said that it was unrealistic so i didn't bother.

I need to upgrade or get a new computer when i have some money to be able to play the computer one which i will hopefully do soon. Hopefully the iphone version will be similar to that.

I will probably see the reviews before buying this though, to make sure i don't waste my money.
tom - chesterr
It's available to buy on my iphone now btw, has anyone bought it? i'll await the reviews before i buy the game.

If you have not yet bought one then I would advise you not too. Apple tend to bring out a new model each year in June so it may be prudent to wait!

i can't see how a football manager game could be any good on a phone. i won't be rushing to buy it.
SonofSam(Hewson)
Bought it last night. Have played FM mostly on my PSP so the IPhone is pretty similar gaming wise. Much better graphics and the field/stadium 2D replay looks much better than on the PSP. By far best football sim for an iPhone and the price is pretty reasonable. Well done Sega.

they're expected to announce the next iphone in june or july and will start manufacture in september apparently, so whilst it isn't that long away i really don't care - it will be way too expensive and i've waited long enough to get one of these ha

I understand, it is an amazing phone, and the problem is once you have one, you'll never be without it!

What I would say though is that it is likely that Apple will discontinue the 3G iphone (New OS4.0 doesnt support multitasking on it etc) so when the new one comes out they may reduce the price of the 3GS.

Just downloaded Opera for the iphone, really good browser and quicker than Safari! Anybody with an iphone should give it a go!

Playing it on the iphone is more like playing it on a PSP than a phone tho. I had the first FM on the PSP before they added the 2D match engine so it was just like playing the older Championship Manager games where you just got the text commentary. It was fairly basic compared to the PC version but still decent for playing on the bus to work.

I reckon i must be the biggest FM geek around tho. My current game on my laptop has clocked in at 8 days, 15 hours and 42 minutes and i have another game on my desktop PC that has a similar amount of game time in it as well as a few side games with different databases that i have going each with a few days in them.

I reckon if you were to add up the total hours i put into each years instalment of FM i must lose at least a month out of each year on that game. Having it on the laptop really does result in it eating up the hours because i can play it whilst doing so many other things. Usually on any given saturday when im watching Sky Sports ill be playing FM at the same time.
tom - chesterr
I was going to download opera but the reviews have said to stick to safari.

i don't particulary like the idea of it on a normal console never mind a hand held one. does it run quickly? how much detail is in the game compared to the full version?

Yeah, its fast but there are a few odd things. The way its fast is that the pages are actually rendered on a server somewhere in Europe, and then you get the final result on your page. This means that web sites think that you are accessing their site from another country. Facebook for one locked my account because they thought it was unauthorised access. Could cause issues with other sites too I guess. However for looking at BBC etc its very fast!

I personally would stick to the safari Internet, also if you want facebook on the phone then just download it free from the app store.

Yeah I use the facebook app, I was just testing facebook with Opera!

Bought it the other day!

Very good game if you don't expect it to be the same as the computer version.

I used to read lots of reviews before buying games, however I tend not to bother anymore as they don't seem to be accurate to me.
People said you can only have one game on this version but you can have as many as four, dosent crash or the game isn't fixed like people have said. £6.99 well spent as it is addictive.
tom - chesterr
Quite addictive.

I noticed though that the game says danby is chester's 2nd best keeper. Has players ratings like this at other clubs but still a good game. i have managed to get chester from -25 to - 7 points with 17 games gone.
lukowski14
it's really addictive yeah, btw i'm doing very well - with 21 games played i'm on PLUS 21 and without the points deduction i would be right behind Luton, in second, just ahead of Wrexham in third

Any tips/advice you could give me? smile.gif

My best signing has been lee mceviley (not sure how to spell it)

Also got a couple of loan players, one of them scored a 90th min winner at the goatcourse!
Ben
So how many people managed to keep ccfc up??
tom - chesterr
It came to the last game, which i had to win by beating Stevenage which were doing well in the league. And Hayes and Yeading the team above me had to lose to Salisbury which was unlikley. Neither happened with me losing 1-0 and them winning 3-1 so i got relegated and sacked.

Started again and i am now doing much better, Won all my pre-season games beating Barnet, Workington and Brentford. Then i went on a unbeaten run and having played 18 games i am now on 6 points. Just 6 points of safety.

Also qualified for the FA cup, which i didn't do in the first career.

My better players that i have signed are:
-Tom Hill, midfielder on loan from Bournemouth.
Kieran hughes-mason, attacking midfielder on loan from Millwall
Lee McEvilley, striker bought for 3k
Also got Matt Barnes on loan from Swindon.

My scouts say that both Amjad Iqbal and Marcus browning are good players that should be signed but i don't have the funds for them. However Marcus browning says 'free' so i don't know why i have to bid for him?

Any players that anyone has bought or any tips or tactics?

Were you not tempted to cheat a little in such a situation and keep playing that last game until you got the result you wanted?
tom - chesterr
Na, didn't think of doing it then - prefered to leave it how it is and try a new season again thou!
tom - chesterr
My team are so inconsistant it's annoying - went on a 5 or 6 game winning run beating teams like Mansfield, York, Stevenage who were all doing well and the alfreton town beat me 2-1 in the fa trophy cup (think that's what it's called)

Any tips/advice you could give me? smile.gif

first thing i would say is set up some attacking tactics, obviously you need to get wins and that isn't going to happen a lot if you're not playing the right way, then i went about recognising the positions that most needed attention and started looking for players after sacking off the vaughans and selling one or two others - got 6K for meynall which payed for a new striker in january

so straight away i brought in cover for john danby in the form of alan brooks ( free ) - one for the future, i got chris riley ( free ) a decent right back and to complete the back line i signed cestor mike on loan from leyton orient, he plays left and centre

i then decided i wanted ashton to play left midfield to save on wages and he's been great alongside kevin roberts and ryan fraughan - a centre midfielder on loan from tranmere, and i got right winger max noble ( free ) - like riley he is a player i know well from other versions of FM - finally i signed aaron brown ( free ) to cover at left wing

up front is obviously the place that needed the most work, and i didn't mind paying £900 wages to craig mahon ( free ) who has paid me back with 14 goals and 5 assists already - and his strike partner has 11 goals and 7 assists, ben hunt on loan from bristol rovers and i've just signed lee mcevilly with the money from the sale of meynall and he made his debut as a 80th minute substitute to score the winner

btw i'm in early january now and i'm well clear of relegation - sitting in 10th place actually, on 42 points and i am now pushing for the playoffs as crazy as that sounds, but i'm in with a shout thanks to an unbeaten run - starting september and i've suffered just 3 losses so far, 4 draws and 21 wins - without the point deduction i would be well clear at the top of the league now

so you have to go all out, i managed to assemble a great little squad and i think they're just about good enough to win this league with the right tactics, and i should add that some of my best players are the original lot - danby has been brilliant and is my best player atm, tim ryan and shaun kelly have been quality at the back and kevin roberts has put in loads of top performances, the only problem really is the lack of depth with me having a lack of confidence in my backup strikers - ben jones and lloyd ellams but glenn rule has been very good filling in a right back, right wing and even centre mid and even ben wilkinson has done a job when called upon..
tom - chesterr
I put the vaughans up for sale and also offer to clubs but no one bids for them. (no surprise lol) and when i click the option release player - it says i will have to pay compensation of (forgot the amount but its something like 6k or more) what happends if i release does that put me in debt or take it of my transfer budget?

I realised that i have to play with a style to suit the players and i am now in the same position as you, that i want to try and reach the play-offs because i may just be able to.

Also say if you play leeds or a slighlty bigger team in the F.A cup what tactics will you use - defensive and then sort-of inviting pressure or go for broke and go attacking? i played swindon in it and got beat 2-1.

Just thought I'd post this on here... Selling an iPod touch incase anyone is interested? here's the eBay link; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT

Toodles.
tom - chesterr
After not playing on it for ages i Re-started my game.

Signed a few loan's and also some free's - bought a player called Cestor Mike for 90k as future investment as he's young and becomes a good player!

I loaned:
Declan Rudd GK
George Francomb RB (signed on a free at end of the season)
Mats Rits CM
Tom Hill CM
Paul Terry DM C
Amine SC
Ben Khalifa SC
Joel Acosta AM/F RC
Coeff MC

Signed some of them during the season because of injuries ect.

Got on a free:
Sean Rudd DC
Izzy iriekpen DC
Stefan Milojevic AM L
Michael Noone M RC
Marvin Homand DC
Omer Riza SC

Bought: Cestor Mike D LC

Released a few players.

I managed to get Chester promoted in the first season via the play-offs. Went on a long winning run and quickly wiped out the 25 point deduction, started to draw a few then went on a small winning run again. Got to play Blackburn in the league cup and was winning until they scored a late equaliser to manage a reply, Beat me in the return game and then i went through a wobbly patch.
Recoverd and i was 4/5 points of the play-offs, waiting for the teams ahead to slip up which they did on the second to last game and i secured a play-off position on the last day. Scored 106 goals in the season, conceding 43 - goal difference of 63 with 82 points (with out the deduction i would have won the league by 6 points) Beat Luton over 2-legs then beat Mansfield in the final. I also won the FA trophy.

Started the second season but finding it difficult to get decent cheap players.

Does anyone else play this still?

Want to have a separate game but not sure what club to go?
