Seems the planet is falling apart as a massive earthquake of 8.8 (depending on reports) hits Chile. Tsuanmi warnings have been issued in 53 countries!
Saw on another forum that someone had received an e-mail from a friend on a cruise liner off the south american coast who said that all the lights went out on the shore and they have stopped the ship, turned towards the coast and been ordered to put on their life vests. No more information apparently and they don't know what's going on.
Now it's very unlikely that a tsunami would have any effect on a ship out at sea as they only gain height once they hit shallow waters but i'd be crapping myself if i were on that boat.

The coast being the most dangerous place in a tsunami. Like you said, the best place to be is in deep sea.
