Banksy
You may remember earlier on in the season, the airshow that fans in and around the Deva were treated to, which included the ground shaking Vulcan Bomber making a special trip to Hawarden, it actually got a round of applause from inside the Deva...

Well, we may never see it fly again, unless the public can help keep the legendary aircraft in the air.

Funds are running out rapidly, and the entire Vulcan team have been put on one month's notice, and the project faces closure, in what is it's 50th birthday year, since it first flew in 1960, and is the only remaining airworthy Vulcan bomber. Please visit the link below and help create a world record by signing the Vulcan's 50th Birthday card!

If you can spare it, please then pledge any amount by visiting the Vulcan's Survival Appeal, you don't have to pay anything now, just pledge, and any money will be taken only when £300,000 worth of pledges have been made, which is needed by the end of February - a further £300,000 will then be needed by the end of March, which will enable the Vulcan to grace the skies of the UK this Summer.

Please help save the world's only flying Vulcan!

Pledged. Thought the £15 I'll save from tomorrow's boycott would be about the right amount to divert to a worthy cause.

Also just made a pledge.

This aircraft is very much a part of RAF heritage. Long may she continue to fly.

Thanks both, and if you were unsure about the power of the Vulcan, please click on the following link and see what happens at 40 seconds in when it's supposed to be coming into land....

Mind your head!

Please pledge to keep the Vulcan in the air...

Pledge here

Remember, you got your own free airshow last year at the Deva, so please consider playing your part to keep this British icon flying for at least another year, in this it's 50th birthday year!

Fair play that was amazing !

Im thinking of going to an airshow this year, RAF Cosford probably but the traffic last year was a joke by all accounts.

When I was young I used to see it at RAF Valley in Anglesey, what an awesome sight

The reason for the sheer volume of traffic was down to the fact that it was the Vulcan's first appearance of 2009, they had to turn people away from the gates for the first time ever!

That goes to show the pull this aircraft has, for it to get cheers & a round of applause at the Deva earlier this season sums it up - the public love the plane when they see it, in fact 2.5 million saw it last year at shows, but only 10,000 of those actually contributed to the fund to keep the Delta Lady (as it's known) up in the air.

If all of those 2.5m donated a pound, then it would secure a further 3 years of watching this glorious British aircraft - it's as simple as that.

Please pledge today - remember, you don't need to pay anything now, just pledge, and if, or hopefully when, they get to the first £300,000 pledged, they will call for the money at that point.

During the 'Cold War' with Russia one was continuously flying loaded with nuclear bombs just waiting for the 'call'. One awesome plane !

Remember that day very very well, tried to get a decent shot on my phone but couldn't. I have also Pledged too and signed the birthday card.

Well a thankful diversion to everything CCFC & CFU has been one of my other passions, the Vulcan Bomber.

As you may or may not know, it's a beast of a machine, and it's British - several thousand got a view of it earlier this season when it flew over the Deva en-route to the Broughton Airshow in September.

The project has always relied on the people's money to keep it in the air, and only less than a month ago, the entire staff on the Vulcan to the Sky project were given a month's notice as the whole thing needed £800,000 by the end of March, but £500,000 of that by the end of February - up until today the amount raised via donations / pledges was an encouraging £415,000, but still £95k short of where they needed to be in just 3 days time.

Today however, an anonymous donation of £458,000 has been paid, which has secured the short term future of the Vulcan!!!

An unbelievable gesture from someone in the money, and one which has seriously lifted the spirits of Vulcan fans all over the planet.

For anyone who has pledged, this will be called for soon, in order for the full £800,000 to be raised - but I on behalf of other Vulcan fans, would like to thank you for helping the Vulcan survive!!!!

It's been a while since I talked about saving the Vulcan, as thankfully it was saved back in February, but funds are running very low again as they have found it extremely challenging to get major sponsors in thanks to the economic conditions. It costs £1.6m a year to keep the Vulcan going, and they are aiming to keep it in the air for another 2 years so it can perform a fly past at the Olympic Games in 2012.

The public are the only ones who can save the Vulcan, in this it's 50th year, and see it through to next year where hopefully we'll see it in the skies above us.

I can tell you that I'd spoken to the senior people who look after the Vulcan, and we were very very close to securing a flypast over the Exacta Stadium on September 18th, but sadly we needed Southport Airshow to have booked the aircraft to appear which didn't happen.

I'd told the Vulcan flight crew about how the fans inside the Deva clapped & cheered as it flew over the stadium in September 2009 en route to Airbus Broughton, and they were taken aback by that, and having explained how Chester FC had come about this year, they said they'd pay us a visit if they were heading up North this September.

To continue, the Vulcan needs £400,000 raising by the end of October, and they are currently at £270,000 but all of the team that look after the aircraft have been put on a month's notice and face going into Administration unless they achieve the target.

If you can help by donating any amount of money then please do it today - it may just help secure a flypast for us next year!

Remember this is the world's last flying Vulcan, which may not be the case come next Monday.

I was also lucky enough to visit RAF Brize Norton last year and film the aircraft during a special day they put on for my mum, an unbelievable experience for her as they guided us round the Vulcan itself, meet the crew, and then take us up to the control tower to watch the display - simply amazing!

Cheers, Banksy
