Three singles in the chart for Vera Lynn who recently topped the album chart in the U.K. with her "Greatest Hit's"
Interesting to note that only two British Singers in the Chart,Lynn and Max Bygraves,the Americans were to dominate for sometime in the charts.
The first British No.1 didn't come untill April 11 when "Broken Wings" by the Stargazers reached the top for one week,followed by Rita Roza's "How much is that doggie in the window?" reached the top spot the folllowing week."I believe" by Frankie Laine then dominated the charts,at No.1 for an incredible 16 weeks,followed by two weeks of Mantovani with the theme from "Mouline Rouge" before Laine reclaimed the top spot for another three weeks.
It wasn't untill January 9th 1954 before another British No.1 made the top,and that was Eddie Calverts trumpet instumental,"Oh mein papa." which stayed at No.1 for nine weeks.
