DCFC 7 (Seven) Exeter 3

The Chatters welcomed the new set of opponents from Exeter City to The Clifton Drive Stadium this morning where the home side looked to pick up where they had left off against Buxton just a fortnight ago.

It was Deva Chat FC who controlled the first half with Hutchison opening the scoring with a 40-yard pile-driver into the right hand corner of the net. Gresty then made it 2-0 after a messi-esque run from Andy Holliday smile.gif

Canada-bound Ash Dolan made it 3 shortly before Ephgrave chipped the keeper for 4-0. Before the half time whistle had gone it was 5-0 after Danny Watlin added to the rout.

The Chatters had a second half brace from Tom Jones to thank for securing the win after a riled Exeter came out second half and fired in three goals in the remaining 45 minutes. Manager Nath Auty was understandably delighted with the victory which keeps DCFC's 100% record at their new home however he raised concerns at the second half performance and said it would be something he would be addressing with the squad before next weeks match.

Next up for Deva Chat FC is Shrewsbury Town at Clifton Drive next Saturday (28th February)

DCFC 0 Shrewsbury 3

DCFC put in one of their most accomplished defensive performances against a strong shrewsbury team and can feel agrieved at the final result.

DCFC made the worst possible start when a free-kick from the shrewsbury left was put in just in front of goalkeeper Rix, who had too many players to come through to get the ball and a shrewsbury flick made it 1 -0.

Rather than letting their heads drop however, DCFC began to get a foot in the game and had opportunities to score with Gresty getting onto the end of a glorious through ball from hutchison to which the shrewsbury defence only just recovered, Gresty had a further chance, again going through the defence but was unable to get enough power on his shot and Andy Holliday was found at the back post but mis-judged the flight of the ball.

Almost at half time Shrewsbury gained a 2 goal cushion, Allen Holliday's clearance hit Hutchinson and fell kindly for the shrewsbury player who then took advantage of a slip from Robinson to slot home.

In the 2nd half DCFC maintained their shape and organisation and were very difficult for shrewsbury to break down. At the other end Davison looked lively and Ephgrave continued to hold the ball up well. DCFC had chances through Andy Evans and again Andy Holliday who intercepted a pass from the shrewsbury midfield and burst past the remaining defenders only to find a highly alert goalkeeper who cleared the danger.

Shrewsbury's 3rd goal has to go down as a fine piece of skill as he turned Allen Holliday and then the finish was very accurately placed in the right hand corner of Rix's net. Shrewsbury however were limited in chances and DCFC continued to hit them on the counter, Gardner, who came on between the sticks sent davision clear with a quickly taken kick but DCFC were unable to get the goal their performance deserved.
