Incidentally how much North (Scottish) sea oil is there left, there can't be much left with all the bitching and whining I read in the papers about how much Scotland is subsidised??!

There is apparently plenty of North Sea oil left. Just like there is in Texas and Mexico.

This is one of the great urban myths perpetuated by the Scots: it is not Scotland's oil - it's England's oil! By all international laws, the sea and its deposits are the property of the country which borders it in a continuous line from that border. Think about it: it would be ludicrous otherwise.
The English/Scottish border heads SW (Cumbria) to NE (Northumberland). Extrapolate this line out into the North Sea and 80% of the oilfields are quite clearly English.

i think it's safe to say that hundreds of years ago the eeeenglish were right c*nts and we exploited the world and treated everyone badly.

Look at the countries we 'exploited': Australia, India, Canada, New Zealand......all prosperous and stable democracies. Now if only we'd exploited North Korea, Libya and Aghanistan......

We could spend the next thousand years being apologists. Yeah we did bad things, but we also did good things. Infrastructure, education, road, rail, etc.
