Sri Lanka .

I am just having a look for a week out there in October but wondered if anyone has any tips on where to stay thats fairly good.
Found a week in Negumbo for £680 all inclusive which is cheaper than whats coming up for the Canarys

My girl friend has been and absolutely loved it. She went all over with Explore, I'll see what I can find out.

Now you are talking BOT I love to play skip the turd in the Dunes when I take the kids up there for a walk along the beach.
Nowt better than used nappies and lolly sticks to look out for in the lagoon that forms in the car park its a graet game so much so the kids dont bother to take a colouring book on the rainy days.
Last time out nappies won 4-3 in a thriller.

If it's a beach you're after then what about Queensferry.

Many a grand old time to be had down under the blue bridge.

nahh i would bump into oaksy he is there every year like clockwork.
says he loves building mudcastles in the drizzle and having a drink of Corona pop on the bridge in the evening watching the dead rats float by.
In a way he has a point why go abroard when the ferry has just about everything a tramp could wish for.

Went to Bentota (SW coast just up from Galle) in Sri Lanka 3 years ago this time of year and it was mint. Was a resort hotel all inclusive thing but everything was spot on. Food was awesome, people dead friendly and a beautiful island.

Highlight of the holiday was beating a frenchman at pool whilst watching the last ashes test drinking the great Elephant beer (6% and served in a pint bottle)

Comedy moment was before we left when the mother in law asked if we were taking tea bags as "foreign tea is usually rubbish..." Have warned the wife if she ever turns into her mum I will be off...

Cheers for the info OS Dog but the return flight was a mare so I am on my way to Thialand now with Ethiad via Abu Daba which should be a nice change.
Also got a room upgrade to a deluxe suite in the hotel Free slippers and Robe ( thats comin home with me for starters)
See if this hotel will let me bring a flag back an arl

was booking for Hua Hin untill I found out it was another 3 hrs by rd from the airport.
if I was staying for 2 weeks then that is where I would have stayed but now I have booked a SPA resort just out side Pattaya.

Did the ferry trip from Langkawi to Satun. On arrival ended up on some bus going to Trang, had no idea where that was. The bus conductor must have used a whole roll of tickets for just myself and my two friends. total journey time was about 6 hours. Cost of bus ride for the 3 of us £1.50. Stayed two nights in two different hotels. First was £1 a night, altho they only had cold water for the shower .

Second night, stayed in a place that would put the Grosvenor to shame, cost was £9 each

On return couldnt face the 6 hour bus journey back, so we hired a taxi to do the 140km trip, total cost was £30 for the 3 of us, and took about 90 minutes
