Got an advance of Little Man Tate's new album, "Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy", superb stuff, lot stronger than the first one.

Also really getting into Steve Earle. Copperhead Road is a lost classic. He sings the Galway Girl song on the cider adverts at the moment.
Chris
Loads of forthcoming stuff that I'll be interested in hearing - too many to list off the top of my head. I'm sure every Monday between now and the middle of October will be bringing with it at least one record I'm interested in though.

In the meantime, The Gaslight Anthem's "The '59 Sound" is the album I've played most in the past month or so and will be high up on any end-of-year list I end up making. Also loving "Not For Want Of Trying" by a band from Leicester called Maybeshewill - mostly instrumental, post-rock type stuff.

I'm listening to Mystery Jets at this precise moment though. They're alright.
Mancot Blue
I've read plenty of good things written about the Chemical Brothers' latest offering, Brotherhood. Very interesting disc two, I must say!

The album only really has Hey Boy Hey Girl, Star Guitar, Galvanise and of course Block Rockin' Beats that is missing from last year's We Are The Night album, although a 'Best Of' is inevitably set to follow at some point down the line.

Great album, "Happy" is just a bloody brilliant song! I think indie and rock music between about 1988-1994 was generally really good.

I'm liking Fighting With Wire at the moment. Saw them briefly at Leeds and bought their album straight away

Very very good live. Saw them at the Academy in Manchester with OS Dog and The Beautiful Game off here.

Top act.

As stated above by OS Dog, the Paul Heaton album is great. And Godfodder has the immortal "Kill Your Television", a former High Society classic!

Agree, they are a brilliant band that i fear wont make it as big as they should because they are not the arctic monkeys

saw them at the academy in liverpool and caught them at V festival too. Hoping to get tickets for the upcoming tour
NWAS
I think the only similarities between the two is that they are musicians from Sheffield!

Little Man Tate are more poppy than the superb Monkeys. You'd never imagine the Arctic Monkeys doing something as singalong as Sexy In Latin, or as mushy as It Must Be Love.

Both top bands at different ends of the scale. What REALLY p**ses me off is that the F**King Feeling/Hoosiers/Kooks b*ll*cks all hits, and LMT, who are infinately better at that sort of thing, cant get a hit.

Top, top band. If you want a link to preview the album previous to buying it on 15th September, pm me.

Spot on mate apart from you forgot Scouting For Girls...

LMT's album available at a bargain £7 from Amazon or £8 for the 2cd edition from HMV online. Don't forget to use the links on the Supporters' Trust website and make a few quid for them.

It's hard to be sensible when your untouchable, but to think you're untouchable is never sensible...

Top lyric that. My fav LMT is

Marie is delectable, just turned bisexual, I heard she is into me.
A text message she sent to me and her girlfriend, inviting us round for tea.
Then she went down, down, down on Marie.

Well you imagine the rest, I was put to the test, and we made a lovely three.
Marie was exciting, you could say inviting and they both took turns with me.
Then we went down, down, down on Marie. Yeah we went down, down, down on Marie.

OR

He thought they'd shared a moment.
He thought she looked into his eyes, right into his very soul.
But she was just checking her hair in the reflection in his sunglasses!

As I said, proper pop band. Scouting for Girls... Singing for Irons more like.

The wife bought the Scouting For Girls album last week. She also has The Feeling album too. I've warned her if she gets anything by the Kooks shes out the door.

I am excited by the new Metallica album. Hopefully it'll be something of a return to the classic 80s sound.

Also will be purchasing the Glasvegas album shortly as I expect plenty others on here will be.

The Glasvegas one will be getting a spin here. Looking forward to the new Otis Gibbs album "Grandpa Walked A Picketline"

Quantcast Wonderful, poignant and political Americana. Just click play. Let me know what you think, heard him first on the Bob Harris Country Show on R2 and have become smitten.

Have to agree mate. I'm sure anyone could list a load of bands from their era that they think are great, but how about Stone Roses, Inspirals, James, Mega City Four, Carter, Therapy, Faith No More, Neds, Wonder Stuff, Ministry, Bluetones, Shed Seven, Oasis, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Jellyfish, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails and last but by absolutely no means least, Half Man Half Biscuit? It does take some beating...

Oh i fully agree. The Monkeys are brilliant but any upcoming sheffield bands are dubbed as Monkeys wannabes.

and i cant stand the complete SH*TE that bands like the Hoosiers and Feeling come up with. Scouting for girls are the worst band ive ever heard. Yet when i went to V festival, they had the biggest crowd all weekend. unbelievable !

LMT are really nowhere near as big as they deserve to be, but if they keep to the very high standard of the last album, then they will get there chance hopefully

Problem is Soccer AM big up these bands to - Hoosiers, Kooks etc, its all the f**king same. Part of the reason I can't be bothered watching it anymore

Just actually listened to the new Little Man Tate album, quality stuff again. Great that they can follow up on the first album with another belter, its simple great catchy tracks with some brilliant lyrics.

Yup, listened this morning. Will need a couple more listens to form any real opinion on it - singles obviously stand out on first listen, and they're all pretty good of course.

If you're not already acquainted with The Twilight Sad, you might want to check out their album "Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters" from last year. Also Scottish, quite similar musically and vocally, though less so lyrically (in fact you'll probably struggle to make out most of the lyrics). Saw them supporting Idlewild last year and they're pretty noisy live.
Big Si
Got the new Little Man Tate album which is sounding good. Downloaded the upcoming Kings of Leon album and Glasvegas but haven't had the chance to listen yet.
NWAS
Glasvegas album a bit samey for me. Like My Own Cheating Heart and a few others but they do all kinda sound the same...

God I've turned into my Dad.

Ipod just threw up a nice mixture of Bruce Springsteen (Thunder Road), Stone Roses (Tightrope) and Guillemots (Get Over It). Great stuff.
Big Si
Glasvegas album sort of merges into one, might take a few more listens to get into it properly. New Kings of Leon album sounds excellent though. Got the upcoming Metros album which ain't bad either.

Amen to that.

I keep going back to the Enemy album, superb. The Jam of the 2000s in my opinion. Love Away from here - really sums up how i feel some days.

Although i'm not keen on Glasvegas, they don't do it for me. Find them a little tiresome.
