CHATTERS FACE GRUDGE MATCH

THE visit of Shrewsbury Town to the Deva Stadium could pale into insignificance compared with Deva Chat FC's home clash with city rivals AFC Chester this weekend.

Both sides represent Chester City supporters - Deva Chat FC in the Fanbanta-sponsored IFA League and AFC Chester in the Northern Football Supporters League, but differences will be set aside for tomorrow's friendly at Deeside Leisure Centre (11am kick off).

The much-publicised bad blood between the two sides has been diluted over the last year by numerous personnel changes in both camps but tomorrow's encounter will be their first ever 11-a-side meeting.

The Chatters are without 11 of their 27-man squad, following the late drop-out of full back Jon Mulligan, whilst teenage defensive starlet Tom Hutchinson remains a doubt but will be included.

Joint-manager Nath Auty knows the game is one to look forward to and wants his side to approach it in the right manner.

"There has obviously been a fair bit of malice between us and them since we formed last year, but I fully expect our lads to enter tomorrow's match knowing it is a friendly," he said.

"It is important that we approach the game in a professional frame of mind as we do for every game we play.

"We go into every game with a competitive edge and wanting to win, but it is also important that players from both sides are able to put aside their differences when the final whistle blows and shake hands at the end of the day."

Auty and his colleague Phill Lambe include themselves in the 16-man squad, but fellow manager Mark Ephgrave misses out.

Auty added: "We have been hit by a couple of key absentees but I have every confidence in the players that Phill (Lambe) and I have at our disposal.

"We have been performing well recently in a couple of tough encounters and, despite the heavy defeats to Rochdale AFC and Forever Bury FC, we can take alot of positives from both games.

"I don't want to be drawn too much into talking about the opposition because it's crucial that we focus on our own game - but they are a very strong, experienced side.

"Tomorrow is certainly one to look forward to and, on our own patch with our partisan crowd, we have every chance of claiming a positive result."

AFC Chester take on Devachat FC for the first 11-a-side, 90 minute friendly tomorrow at Deeside Leisure Centre (11am kick off), and aim to kick on with a good win.

AFC go into the game vs there local rivals with a number of kee absentee's, including long term injurie's Mike Griffiths, Neil Harris, Dale Blythin and Lewis Mitchell, and Mark Hawkins and Mark Howell both working. The squad of 16 however is a strong one, with new signings Andy Bryan, Mark McCullum, Aaron Guest, Dylan Roberts and Matt Lucas all looking for extra game time to bed into the squad. Who turns up will be interesting however, as it is AFC Chester's team night out the night before.

Despite the hangovers and absentee's, AFC Chester would like to publically thank Devachat FC for arranging this game, it gives us an excellent chance to bed in new signings and gel together for the upcoming Derby match vs AFC Wr**h*m next sunday.

What's up now? The article is just a bit of fun to promote the game - this isn't the first such pre-match preview for DCFC either.

Christ on a bike, some people need to chill out a bit!

His robes might get a bit tangled up. I would suggest maybe a hovercraft to him instead.

Christ on a hovercraft......yeh, has a nice ring to it.
Woody
He could use some of those trouser clips to wrap his robes up and save him from an oily mess and cluttered up chain.

I reckon a Raleigh Chopper would be brilliant for him too!!! With a bell on the front and some spokeys on the wheels.

(Clang clang clang riiing riiing...."Quick look busy, Jesus is coming")!!
