Full Version: Sean Dolan Memorial Match
Deva Chat - Chester City Fans Forum > DC - Forums > Deva Chat FC

As many of you here on Deva Chat will be aware one of our players tragically lost his father last weekend. Ash Dolan's (aka Bluewolf) father was in Afghanistan on military duty with his regiment when he was very sadly killed on Saturday June 30th 2007.

A fitting tribute can be read here... http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceN...Afghanistan.htm

Sean was very well known within our squad because of his fitness work with some players at AFC Chester and his continued interest in DCFC events and matches. He was a wonderful man, with a big heart who was extremely proud of his wife (Mitch) and only son (Ash) and a man they can both be extremely proud of themselves.

It is a big loss to the British Army and society that Sean has passed away and we all at Deva Chat FC wish his family our deepest sympathy and offer our support throughout this difficult period in life.

Sean (originally from the West Midlands) was a life long Wolvehampton Wanderers supporters along with his family who relocated to Chester due to Sean's work in 2001 , they continued their season ticket subscriptions for Wolves and Ash was somewhat forced to fulfil his 'football fix' with visits to the SHS every other weekend. Ash has since become a regular on the Harry McNally Terrace and has had his fair share of trips on the Hipkiss Express.

As a result of Seans love for Wolves and his son's love of both Wolves and Chester City it has been announced this morning through work of his son and members of Molineux Mix (A Wolves chat forum) that a memorial game between a Molineux Mix XI & Deva Chat FC will take place on Sunday 5th August in Wolvehampton. There is a lot of interest in the media regarding this game and we can hopefully make it a day to remember for Ash's family and a day his father would of been proud of.

More news on a kick off time for any one wishing to attend or anyone wishing to make donations to the event will be announced in due course.

Thank you for your time

That's an excellent idea Phill and exactly the kind of thing DCFC should be all about.

I may be on holiday that day (unsure whether I will leaving on the Sunday or Monday) but if I'm available I'd certainly like to get involved.

It will be a great tribute to Sean and I'll be honoured to a part of this.

I'm truly shocked and saddened to learn of this awful news.
I had no idea Sean served our country in the forces, but I had met him and played football a number of times and was impressed by his football ability.
Very sad news indeed.
My thoughts and prayers are with Ash and his family.

Well done to all involved in arranging this game in Sean's memory.

Would like to have attended that but unfortunately it lands on the same day as the Potts First Wedding Anniversary

Phill. Please update asap on Donations as I, and I'm sure many others who cant attend, would like to contribute.
BlueWolf
negotiations are at a very advanced stage, we are believed to be agreed at a date of 5th August, venue has not been arranged as I'm to be contacted by Wolves in the very near future.
Posh Jon
I hope I'll be able to be involved in this.

RIP Sean.

I'd like Ash and his family to know i'm thinking of them. Having just returned from holiday this is the 1st ive heard and i am deeply sorry to hear about this.

As most of DCFC know my brother Allen flies out to Iraq in August, and the events in Afghanistan only go further in detailing how pointless our foreign policy in that region has become. Although tainted in my views by my own personal fears for my brother, it angers me greatly that we continue to lose soldiers for what from the outset seemed immoral to me.
Mancot Blue
I understand those views Andy, especially with your brother soon to fly out - and we all wish him well, but it can't be doubted that Sean was doing what he loved. May the man Rest In Peace.
Maldini
Just wanted to add my condolences here to Ash and the rest of the Dolan family - a terrible thing to happen and my thoughts are with you.

If I am available for the game i would of course also be honoured to be involved in such a great event to mark Sean's life.

RIP

For anyone who cannot make the game on September 2nd you can still make a donation to the great cause that is Selly Oak Hospital Soldiers Wing in Sean's memory.

I have made the Deva Chat FC paypal account available for donations for anyone who wishes to support the day and the wonderful work the hospital carries out.

I cannot post a direct link to the account here but if you follow this link... Donate, It will take you to the DCFC section of this board where you will see two donate buttons in the top right hand corner of your screen, to donate to this cause simply click on the LEFT hand button labelled DCFC and donate your chosen sum.

Donations will be accepted up until the day (September 2nd)

As this money is going through paypal it will sadly be subjected to a small charge from them but rest assured not a single penny after this fee will go anywhere else but to the chosen charity, not a penny will be earned by myself or Deva Chat FC as a club.

Thank you for the continued support across devachat I know how much this means to Ash and his mum aswell as everybody else who knew Sean.

We'd like to give a massive thank you to everyone who has offer support and donated so far to this very worthy cause and we'd like it to continue up until the day which is less than three weeks away now.

We have today received confirmation of a very generous donation to the cause in which a devachatter has provided and paid for coach transport to and from the game. This means we can all arrive together and in style for what should be an enjoyable day and hopefully raise alot of money for the chosen charity.

Thank you to that person they know who they are! cityscarf.gif
