TRIO BEMOAN LUCK
Deva Chat FC's managerial team have been given food for thought ahead of Saturday's Stockfest 2007 tournament.
With just 36 hours before the big kick off, it is believed that up to five of the 16-man squad are doubts, leaving trio Phill Lambe, Mark Ephgrave and Nath Auty with a selection headache as they consider their options.
Forward Mark Ephgrave is still recovering from a recent illness whilst Alan Hitchin, Joe Mills and Dom Rae have recently been struck down by the mystery virus.
Right winger Andy Holliday has, though, been given international clearance to play, delighting the management after two weeks of round-the-table negotiations.
It has been made clear that only one player remains on stand-by duty, meaning the squad could be reduced dramatically should the ill players pull out.
The inaugural tournament hopes to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and features eight teams in a tournament format.
Unofficial sources have indicated that Deva Chat FC have been paired with the Manchester United and Tranmere Rovers representatives, plus one other un-named team.
Meanwhile, the club hope to announce a number of friendlies over the coming days with a possible two-legged tie against a local Sunday league outfit, and a friendly against radio station Dee 106.3.
The club are also in discussions to decide how to offer their collective support to Chester City Football Club for the coming season.
