YOUR supporters team are entertaining Tranmere Rovers representatives in our third IFA League match at Deeside Leisure Centre this afternoon (1pm kick off). After two disappointing defeats on our travels, to Northwich and Bury, in recent weeks we are looking to record our first ever IFA victory today.

All visitors are very much welcome to watch, and admission is FREE. If you have another boring Saturday after another boring Friday night City stalemate, pop along!

A match report of today's, and the previous two matches, will be provided later today.

Great stuff. Can this be moved to the off-topic forum please mods?

I don't have a mirror in my office sorry. I don't do dummy spits, you need to realise the difference between justified goading of the moderators for their hitleresque attitude, and actually being upset about something so trivial.

Have a think though, you'll get there.

I was under the impression that DCFC had their own area for posting this material.

It is humourous when the rivals of DCFC and AFC Chester start swinging handbags on this Messageboard..... Like big girls.. laugh.gif

We do have are own area for posting all news concerning DCFC. We post on the main board regards fixtures and results to keep people on DC updated on the latest going ons. Apart from the odd silly moment there has not been any handbag swinging between DCFC and AFC for a good time. Today we had an AFC players dad help us out and ref the game for us which we are very thankful for. Many Thanks!

Well, we are Deva Chat FC so we are YOUR team! AFC Chester are the official club supporters team, as they have a link with the football club.

AFC Chester's manager, Woody, attended as a spectator and an AFC player's dad kindly agreed to officiate the match. Bad blood, my a**e.

A match report will follow after I receive Tranmere's team details - I like to be thorough! tongue.gif

Deva Chat FC were beaten 4-1, and the opposition had a man sent off late in the second half. There was one minor altercation in the first half, followed by a more serious one in the second half in which a punch was thrown by an opposition player, who was booked, and in which Deva Chat FC also saw two players see yellow. Who said Wrecsam were our rivals?!

Well here's a match summary from my point of view.

The game started off well but tranmere had all of the possession due to their ability to win the ball in the centre of the field. Good defending from stef and the wall kept tranmere at bay however and it was DCFC who had the 1st real good chance.

Andy Holliday, playing football for the 1st time this year after 2 horrific motorcycle accidents won the ball in midfield before running at the defence and sliding a ball through to ash dolan who raced clear of the centre backs. The tranmere keeper rush out and ash's shot was sliced wide, more to do with the pitch than anything.

There then followed more tranmere pressure as spence saved well on 2-3 occasions leading to well-taken corners that were defended desperately at times. The defence continued to excel with alan hitchen on the left deserving a mention for some typical tough challenges.

There then followed a 3 minute spell when tranmere scored 3 times all from similiar punts up the park to their lively strikers. I won't dwell to much on this.

There was a few scuffles when Cartwright jnr went in to heavy on Tranmere's Bourne who reacted like a goon and had a kick off before being calmed down by the man-mountain in tranmere's midfield and Alan "psycho" hitchen was booked for getting involved in and altercation when a tranmere player started throwing punches for an innocuous challenge

The half ended with all DCFC pressure, the ball moved moved from left to right and Holliday had the beating of the tranmere left back resulting in 2 corners whilst on the left hitchen was racing forward constantly to support the solid auty.

The half however ended 0-3 despite the DCFC pressure.

The 2nd half continued in the smae vain with exhausting end to end football, but DCFC were failing to gain control in midfield when the ball was kn the air. When the ball was played on the floor of an ever-wprsening pitch again Holliday beat the left back before taking on another defender, however his cross was disappointingly close the the keeper who collected in front of the on coming dolan and cartwright junior.

Ash dolan sent a well struck free kick at goal but the keeper collected whilst tranmere continued to have their chances at the other end but again the DCFC defence was magnificient.

DCFC's best chance came from a free kick (which will be completely biased and possibly over the top) but Holliday stepped up to take and sent a glorious smile.gif free kick towards goal, bending around the wall and hitting hard, the inside of the post before being cleared. Most of the DCFC players thought it was going in including Holliday who had a hissy fit.

DCFC continued to press when Holliday won the ball in midfield before laying off to cartwright junior who sent a measured through ball through to dolan who took the ball on and slotted past the keeper excellently. a glorious DCFC goal.

DCFC tails were up and they continued to press however tranmere scored again with a freak goal from the left. The substitute who had just come on, crossed the ball over spence's head and into the net.

Substitutes Andy and Kartlad came on in defence and competed well but the game started to peter out.

The game was then marred by a deserved red card to the tranmere striker for obscenities to the ref. and the game finished 1-4 but a great game to watch.

Sounds like a well tasty match there, with all the punches and that. Glad I could not ref it for you now, lol.

Just as a point of interest, are all your players members of Devachat?
iandyChesterCity
It wasn't really tasty, i think there was only the one incident where a punch was thrown and alan got in there (to stop it....) the ref did well imo, i thought they were bookings for the tranmere lads, though alan protested his innocence with some credit.

The earlier incident was just a verbal load of rubbish from col bourne, who is a good friend of mine and just had a bit of a whinge but Cartwright jnr was accosted by the huge midfielder and a bit of comedy ensured because of the size difference.

The sending off was just because their striker kept giving the ref some abuse and continued even when he was warned he would be sent off.

We didn't deserve to lose this one, as im sure your dad said it was just a 3 minute spell in which we lost the game.

In relation to your last point, all players are dc members - the new lads (eg mole/dom) i dont know the proper name of as i havn't been present for a while due to the above reasons.

Blimey Andy!!!

If you thought that pitch was bad, you should have seen the state of the pitch AFC Chester had to play on yesterday!!
iandyChesterCity
"bobbly" doesn't quite describe that pitch. Did you enjoy the game Woody?

Can't quite believe whats happened to those pitches, they look like they would be nice if well maintained.
Woody
Yeah it was a good game. I was heading up to Shotton station to go spend the day with the missus, saw that you were playing on my route so thought I'd take in the game first.

That pitch behind DLC has never been much good.

We played on an absolute mudbath on the side of some mountain in Accrington. The pitch had a massive slope, the rain was battering down and the wind was strong. We were glad to get away with a point but feel that on a decent pitch we would have played Accy off the park.
Robbie
We didn't deserve to lose 4-1, I think.

Our keeper was man of the match, IMO. This may imply that we got battered but it was the simple things like corners and free kicks that our keeper dealt with ease. The ball was like a magnet to him.

Ultimately, the three goals in a space of about five minutes knocked the stuffing out of us and it was an uphill struggle from there.

On a personal point of view, I thought I was SH*TE in the 1st half but I got more into the game in the 2nd half. (Blame the drink last night, always a good excuse) ph34r.gif

We played a lot better in the 2nd half because we switched our formation from 4-5-1, to 4-4-2, moving my brother from centre midfield to play up front.

Holliday played well considering he hasn't played football in a long time. Welcome back matey.

Dolan played well as usual, as did my brother.

Dom was a great addition in centre midfield, helped me a lot.

And all our substitutes coped well when they were brought on.

As I've already said, we didn't deserve to lose 4-1, but we'll win in our next couple of games, I'm sure.

FYI: The Rovers Report

QUOTE
FC Rearguard record comfortable derby victory

Rovers' fans team FC Rearguard continued their fine away form as they recorded their third straight win on the road with a comfortable victory against Chester City in Deeside. Rearguard have now beaten all three of their local rivals this season following on from wins over Liverpool and Everton.

Manager Richard Ault had the rare luxury of an 18 man squad to chose from for this one with Dave Coyle, Ben Brown and Barry McDonnell the only regulars unavailable. Dave Woods and Danny Walton were paired again upfront whilst Dave Edwards made his playing return at the heart of the defence after several months out with a broken ankle.

Eirik Fjeld, Paul Whitby and Colin Bourne also came back into the side after missing last weeks 5-2 win at Leyton Orient.

It was a pretty even opening ten minutes or so to the game as both sides struggled to get to grips with the bobbly and heavy pitch. Rearguard soon settled down though and begun to pass the ball around well using the wings at every opportunity.

The efforts on goal soon started to flow with the City keeper producing some fine saves to deny Dave Woods, Danny Walton and Colin Bourne. The succession of corners that Rearguard had won seven days earlier at Leyton Orient soon started to flow again too, though frustratingly none could be turned home.

The pace and intelligent running of Walton and Woods upfront was creating big gaps in the Chester defence. When they did get tight and deal with the two strikers the ball was often going wide to Phil Iveson who was causing problems with his running. With Ian Rigby also providing service from the left, it meant midfielders Bourne and Whitby could sit back and win back possession when needed. The home side were struggling to get out of their own half for much of the game.

After about 30 minutes the breakthrough finally came for Rovers. A through ball put Dave Woods in behind the hosts' defence inside the box and his low shot to the keepers left found the bottom corner for his first goal since November.

What followed again was similar to Orient last week as the floodgates started to creek open once again. The warning signs had been there for City from early on as Rovers used the right wing at every opportunity. Walton controlled the ball and turned before playing Phil Iveson in on the edge of the box. Iveson beat a defender before powering the ball above the keeper who got a hand to it but was unable to stop it. 0-2.

Barely two minutes later Rovers came forward again. Danny Walton picked the ball up on the edge of the box and decided to try his luck from distance on his weaker left foot. The low shot was too powerful for the City keeper to stop and found the bottom corner as Rearguard opened up a three goal lead - all three goals coming within around five minutes of each other.

City became a little demoralised but continued to play the game in a fine spirit despite a couple of arguments amongst themselves. Rovers were continuing to create numerous chances but became too complacent and spurned countless opportunities. The score remained 3-0 at the break.

The emphasis at half-time was about getting back to playing football like we had prior to the three goals. It was an unsavoury start to the second period though as right-back Craig Murphy was booked after retaliating to an apparent stamp by a City player. Things soon cooled down again though.

Rovers didn't really get their passing going again for any long periods as the hosts closed down well and battled for it. Craig Murphy sent a shot high and wide after finding space in the box whilst the City keeper was again on hand to deny Rearguard more goals.

With around twenty minutes to play Rovers made a couple of subs as Ian Rigby and Colin Bourne made way for Bob Morton and Paul Allen.

Allen had been on the pitch less than two minutes when he picked the ball up on the left wing. He took a few strides inside before placing a fine, curling shot with his right foot over the keeper to put the game beyond all doubt at 4-0, his first goal for the team.

Everyone else in the Rearguard squad got on for the final fifteen minutes or so including Anthony Olsen who became Rearguard's youngest ever player at just 13. The team predictably lost its shape a little and City looked to pull a goal back late on.

Rovers' keeper Eirik Fjeld had been a forgotten man through most of the game and could often be seen leaning against the goalpost admiring the Deeside surroundings. He finally had something to do with about five minutes to play when City won a free-kick on the edge of the Tranmere box.

His desperate attempts to line his wall up failed with the three men in it unable to figure out what to do, something lost in translation maybe. It nearly cost Rovers dear though as a well struck effort curled and hit the left hand post before being scrambled clear.

The referee, who had been fussy throughout, showed no signs of blowing the full time whistle as the ninety minute mark ticked on by. Rearguard kept the ball in the City half most of the time but were to have hopes of a clean sheet dashed in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Possession was given away on the edge of the City box and the home side broke with a ball over the top to their striker. The played had been standing a good five-to-ten yards offside but the ref said play on and he raced through to score. Two Chester players even said the goal was a bit of a "joke". Not very funny from Rearguard's point of view though!

That wasn't the end of the action though as the ref finally got to flash his red card to a Rovers player, unsurprisingly it had a hint of controversy about it. A free-kick was awarded against striker Danny Walton and after a brief dialogue between referee and player he was sent off for "foul and abusive language". There was disbelief at the decision on both sides as the ref punished what was seen by everyone else as a bit of banter.

Shortly after and with more than 100 minutes gone, the ref finally called time and Rovers had another win to add to their impressive form of late.

Well done lads.

Rearguard: Fjeld, Murphy, McCusker ©, Ault, Edwards, Rigby, Iveson, Bourne, Whitby, Woods, Walton

Subs (all used): Allen, Olsen, Lee, McElroy, Boulton, Morton,

Is it the same pitches that we used to play on at Accy? God them pitches were bad enough at the best of times with the slope, and with plenty of wind and rain around it makes for a grim pitch!
Scott
The pitch doesnt look too bad.
Unlcuky lads and good luck for the rest of the season!

The pics work now. Some class ones there, and what about the mullet on the Tranmere number 7??? lol.

Recognised a lot of old faces there, very surprised to see toaster playing though, thought he had quit???

The pitch did look bad, and thats why we choose not to use that pitch. It used to be a decent place to play footy, but sadly since that lad broke his leg on there and they got sued, they haven't looked after the pitches at all. Do any of the DCFC lads remember that first game of last season for AFC on that pitch vs Leeds?? It was horrible to play on, as I remember we had to remove bricks from the pitch before kick off.

And Mark, no the pitch was not the same as accy usually play on, it was about a further 2 miles down the road from where we played them in the first half. We are not exaggerating when we say the only time the ball bounced in the entire game was for Accy's second goal.

Anyway, glad my old man and I could help you out, and I am avaliable if u need a hand with anything else.

And Mark, no the pitch was not the same as accy usually play on, it was about a further 2 miles down the road from where we played them in the first half.

So you played the first half on one pitch and the second half two miles away? Pitches must have been really bad.

What happened to Accrington?

I think they won the league when I was part of the old regime.

Yeah they won it both years the league has been going. To be honest, they are exactly the same, its just the quality and competitiveness of the NFSL has gone up to a high standard now, with 5 teams still in with a shout of being champions.
