Hello all,
Firstly a belated happy new year to everyone from all at Deva Chat FC, apologies it has taken over three weeks but myself, Mark and the team have been working on some very exciting projects for DCFC to represent Chester City FC across the footballing world.
We have now joined the IFA League, which for those of you who dont know is a league which consists of nearly 90 football league supporters teams where teams are invited to play as many or as fewer amount of games they can during the season. Games can be arranged against supporters from the same league and played prior to the meeting of the two main sides in the afternoon or sometimes the day afterwards, as well as arranging games versus the more local league sides on Sundays or Saturdays when either or both sides have played on the Friday evening.
As a result of joining the IFA we have established contacts across the North West and some in League Two and hope to get confirmation on dates for games versus Northwich Victoria, Bury and Tranmere Rovers in the next week. Sadly a proposed match versus Mansfield prior to this Saturdays game had to be cancelled as Tranmere had requested they visit them prior to heading the Saunders Honda.
We are also looking for new players to join our friendly and talented group of lads here at Deva Chat FC, so if you are or know someone who is keen to play regular football with chilled out Chester City fans then Deva Chats the team to join.
We train twice weekly on a Sunday at Westminster Park, Saltney between 11:45am and 1:45pm and on a Wednesday evening on astro turf at Blacon High School between 8:15pm and 9:30pm.
For more information please PM myself or Mark (Steveo1)
Regards,
Phill

We tend to do that but we haven't played for a couple of months now. Joining the IFA will give us a fantastic opportunity to build bridges with supporters from all over England and, potentially, Scotland - if we can be bothered to trek it that far for a one-off match

We could have entertained Mansfield's lot on Saturday morning, before the match in the afternoon, but we joined a week too late so Tranmere's team have pinched our potential opposition. I am personally looking forward to playing at Preston, who have won all 16 of their matches so far this season. They play at Preston North End's training ground/academy on "a pitch that is like carpet" apparently.

Welcome to the IFA from all at ForeverBury FC.
It's good to have another local team in the league and we have made many friends up and down the country over the last couple of seasons.
I have spoken to Nath and Mark and hopefully we will be hosting you on 17th Feb in our first official IFA league game.
All the best,
Warren (FBFC)

Well done DCFC, fantastic news for your team.
One quick question, with over 90 teams in the IFA, do u have an organised league with divisions etc, or do you just play a series of friendlies? If an organised league with divisions, have they allowed you to join half way through a season?
Just interested cos I have no idea how it works.

It's effectively a series of arranged friendlies, as many or as few as each team wishes, but results are logged on the IFA's Yahoo bulletin group and the league table is formed from there. Preston's fans team have, last time I checked, played 16 and won them all. Other supporters teams are yet to play a match this season.
There is also a worldNET tournament held in Leeds each summer, although I believe we may be too late to enter it.
We have forthcoming IFA league matches against Northwich, Bury and Tranmere, as we build League Two contacts as well as North-West contacts. Liverpool and Everton do not appear to have representatives in the IFA so there is a possiblity of us entertaining Premiership supporters teams on the morning of their visit to Goodison or Anfield.

IT makes more sence that its a series of friendlies, but how is the league table calculated if some teams have played 16 games, like Preston, and some have played none, like DCFC??? And is there a championship to win? And when does a season start and end?

IFA League RulesJust update the season/year, as that appears to be a little out of date.
The main points are:
QUOTE
1.1 The league is open to any bonafide Internet side. The league structure for season 2004/5 is based upon teams playing a maximum of 20 games for league purposes.
1.2 The IFA league season starts on 10th August 2004 and ends on 10th July 2005 - the weekend prior to Worldnet 2005
It is obvious that those teams who take it more seriously than others by playing, for example, a match every weekend will be rewarded with more points - unless they lose those matches, and I am not sure whether a trophy as such is handed out at the end of a season.
I will be speaking to various contacts, as the IFA's official website appears out of date.

From what I have read, "light-hearted friendlies" seem a rareity. Millwall have been kicked out of the IFA twice already, for a start, and, as I believe should be the case, there is some level of competitiveness alongside the friendliness. Nobody likes to lose, of course.

Of course. The easiest way to enjoy football is to win, everyone knows that. What i mean is you go into games not worrying about league positions etc etc.
