Personally i have to go for "DADS ARMY" and "STEPTOE AND SON" and for something a bit more "modern" "BLACKADDER 3 and 4. Im a great "Dads Army" fan;got every episode;both radio and tv; and a member of DAAS (Dads Army Appreciation Society) Who have members all over the World.I always listen to an episode before i go to sleep. "Steptoe " is another classic series (both on radio and tv) Still makes me laugh over and over again. As for "Blackadder" I have got audio tapes of series 3 and 4.and it is still very funny;the scripts are brilliant and the acting excellent;surely will be watched and listened to for decades to come.Another favourite is "Rising Damp" which is still funny after all this time. laugh.gif

Fawlty Towers or Max and Paddy.
WAussie Blue
Fawlty Towers - "...... Flying Tart!"
Porridge - Ronnie Barker at his best. Also.....
Open All Hours - "G-Ger-Ger-Granville!" played by David Jason, who was also in .....
Only Fools & Horses - That chandelier scene, just brilliant!
Blackadder - "I have a cunning plan..."
Red Dwarf - "Smeggin' 'ell!"
The Young Ones - "Oh, why don't you go to bed Neil?" "Sleep gives you cancer Rick, everyone knows that."
Dad's Army - "Vot is your name?" "Don't tell him Pike."
It Ain't 'Arf Hot Mum - "Shoulders back, lovely boy. Show 'em off." Apparently not shown anymore as the BBC consider it racist. Idiots.
Steptoe & Son - "You dirty ol' man!"
Hancock - "A pint? That's very nearly an armful!"
Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em - "Mmmmm Betty, I've got a bit of trouble."
The Likely Lads - Adventures of the original Ant 'n' Dec wink.gif
On The Buses - "I 'ate you Butler."
'Til Death Us Do Part - Ground breaking and hilarious. Featured Tony Blair's 'Scarse Git' father-in-law.
Love Thy Neighbour - Now considered racist, but only by PC fools.
Keeping Up Appearances - Don't you just love to hate her?
One Foot In the Grave - "I don't believe it!"
Rising Damp - Leonard Rossiter's finest.
Men Behaving Badly
Ripping Yarns - "Eight - One! Eight bloody One!!"
Man About the House - Sally Thomsett's sexy overbite! wub.gif
The Royle Family - say no more.
Goodnight Sweetheart - Great concept, well executed.

There MUST be more....... Anything by Galton & Simpson, or Clement & La Frenais were usually worth watching.

All mentioned are classics i cant pick a favourite i dont think....but where did american sitcoms go wrong??

the classics such as:
Married with children
Cheers
3rd Rock from the Sun
Boy meets world
My so called life

maybe it was my time of life but feel the americans have somewhat lost their way with sitcoms....now we have to watch crap like Friends on repeat on E4, Home improvements?? F**K off!!

Outside of Cheers and Frasier the yanks have no idea how to do real comedy which involves body language and facial expressions just as much as words when on TV.

Hancock on the rdio will never be bettered, and anything with Barker or Jason is guaranteed to be great.

Slightly different topic but the last episode of Helen Mirren in Silent Witness is on here in just over an hour, again the yanks have no idea how to do good police drama. Jason as Inspector Frost is brilliant.

There were a couple of US sitcoms I used to like: Diff'rent Strokes and ALF !! While I could live without the former, I say "Bring Back ALF !!!"
Heartbreak Kid
Gotta be Only Fools & Horses.

Quite simply the greatest TV programme of all time!!! FACT!!!
