Firstly;Civil servants in the Foreign Office have shared £24m in "bonuses"over the last five years (Now theres a good reason to join the Civil Service! if you ever needed one)And yet servicemen in the Middle East are earning less than the minimum wage! Officials were paid £6m last year in "performance related bonuses".Most junior soldiers in Iraq £39.24 a day.With most working a 12 hour day;this means they are earning less than the minimum wage! Secondly; An unemployed father of 15 who lives with his Wife AND mistress is demanding a larger council house after getting both women pregnant at the same time,Between them they get at least £510 in benefits and child support.9 of the children that he has fathered live in the house with him and the two pregnant women.He has six other children living "elsewhere.His quote is "I think the country is going down the pan" Because they wont give him a bigger council house. I think these two articles illustrate what is a lot wrong with this country today.

The second story shows that the dregs of society are rising to the top.

It is them that are looked after by this country and not the hard working law abiding people of society.

The story illustrates that the dregs expect to be looked after by Tony's Britain even though they contribute nothing and just take from it.

There needs to be a radical change to the Welfare State along with the Justice system in this country because they are both farcical.

What annoyed me in the news this week are these prisoners who are getting compensation from the government for being forced to go 'cold turkey' in jail. At the same time, alzheimers sufferers are being denied drugs for being 'too expensive'. The worlds gone mad.

The man with 15 kids and the 16th and the 17th on the way is phoenomenal, has he ever heard of protection, she could go on the pill, or he could just try using a condom? Works for most people...

Makes me sick that he is demanding a bigger house and has more money coming in that he knows what to do with (that is a saying, but he probably does know what to do with it)

On the subject of prisoners receiving compensation. Surely that should go towards the costs of jailing them in the first place. Appparently they were offered drug treatment but refused, yet still received compensation. Unless the law has changed I thought it was illegal to take drugs

Might help if he got a job! its the poor kids i feel sorry for;what kind of example does he show.How does he sort his sleeping arrangements out with his wife and mistress? Does he take it in turns? Do the kids know which one is their mummy? Hes a disgrace;cut his benefits till he gets a job;and while they are about it;cut his b***s of too.

The father of these kids wants neutering, but it's not the kids' fault which is why he probably does need to get certain provisions.

Unfortunately he sounds like the type of guy who would probably blow it all on crack. People like him should probably be instructed and monitored on how to spend their money. I work in a benefits call centre (only till Xmas thankfully!!) and you get people calling who live off child benefit and tax credits. That money is supposed to be to help raise your kids, what are they living off? It's not mean to single-handedly support a family.

Thing is in my opinion families like this exist because Thatcher shut down so many industries in the 80's and made it too easy to claim benefits. Kids in those days watched their parents growing up and doing sod all. These kids now have kids of their own and they don't know any better than to do the same, but these days it's impractical. You can blame Blair all you want, and he is a bit soft of course, but what went on before him was ridiculous and short-sighted

I'm so glad that I now have an Aussie passport, so I can easily escape this pathetic excuse for a country and its EU masters.

The problem is that similar things are happening in Australia, though not quite as extreme. Give it time though.

Benefits are also extremely unreliable, you can get them stopped for all sorts of unusual reasons without warning and then you're out of money, which is what I get so many ear bashings at work for

The Welfare State needs a radical overhaul as soon as possible. Those who are in need should be looked after by the state and many people wouldn't mind helping the less fortunate.

However the scum who see it is as a handout should be forced into work or be given nothing whatsoever from the state.
