I've actually seen William Gallas play on many occasions. You seem to forget that I go to quite a few Premiership games whenever Chester's fixtures allow it. How many Utd games have you been to? I've probably been to Old Trafford more times than you!!
I'm not saying England are the best team in the World, we seem to under-perform every time a major tournament comes along. Much like Spain only not as bad. I'm backing-up Mused's opinion that the England team does contain some players that can be placed within the 'World Class' category.
Gary Neville is one of the best right-backs in the World. Ashley Cole has improved to be one of the best left-backs in football. John Terry is one of the best centre-backs, Steven Gerrard one of the most influential midfielders (unfortunately he has struggled to maintain his club form whilst wearing the three lions) and Wayne Rooney is one of the most complete footballers I have EVER seen.
You are right about England's last World Cup performance, I'll give you that. Personally I lay the blame at Sven Goran Eriksson's feet. He failed to find a balance in the team and his motivational skills are some of the worst I have ever seen in any manager.
I rate Gallas, quality centre back and Chelsea don't look as solid or assured at the back now he has left. extremely mobile and can play anywhere across the back 4, and has settled in really well at Arsenal!
Ashley Cole,. sorry just don't like him, yes he get's forward and he is mobile, but his final ball is very poor. made some good goal line clearances in a few recent england matches, but with all the happenings with his book and that, leaving Arsenal under a cloud etc it's affected his form big time, if he doesn't improve his form he could be playing second fiddle to Wayne Bridge!
Gary Neville, excellent right back. when beckham was in the side he and Becks linked up superbly at times on the overlap on the right, delivers a good cross into the box from the byline, will wait and see how he plays or fits into McLaren's system now that Beckham is seemingly out of favour.
John Terry is class, seen him play against Liverpool at the Millenium Stadium a couple of years ago along with the rest of the Chelsea side, the bloke is as strong as an Ox, not sure about him getting the captaincy at the mo, I would have liked to have seen it given to Gerrard, proper heart on your sleeve kind of player, and not the kind to go missing when there's a battle on the pitch (unlike Lampard
