We are expecting this meeting to go ahead in the Blues Bar as usual. If there are any changes in the meantime, it will be put on here.

Our guests for our meeting, are, firstly, SHANE PINNINGTON from DEE 1O6 Shane needs no introduction on here, and we are all looking forward to hearing from him about his career and his work on the Radio Station.

Secondly, we welcome a Senior Blues member and director DAVID WILLIAMS, David is a great supporter of the Senior Blues, and we are interested to hear from him about his work, and his role on the board of directors.

Lastly, and by no means least! We welcome back Chairman, DAVID HARRINGTON-WRIGHT who has promised to bring us up to date about the current position regarding the stadium, and we are all hoping that he shall be telling us that we shall be back at the ground on Saturday afternoon!

Geoff will be reporting on the last trip to Southport Flower Show and updating members on forthcoming trips. One especially, could be trip to remember, and we hope members will support the idea.

Tea and Coffee and biscuits will be served as usual, a new batch of Senior Blues Pens have arrived and will on sale, these, I know, are very popular with our members.
See you all on Friday Morning!

Why are these meetings not advertised on the other Deva Chat. Very few people read this Board and I suggest that your refusal to use the other board is doing the Senior Blues a dis-service, not to mention a loss of income for the club.
I have not renewed my membership of Senior Blues simply because the Chairman can't be bothered to publicise meetings and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I would suggest you put your ego and personal feelings aside and act for the good of the club and the membership and post notices of meetings where they are most likely to be read.

Bill, there is NO personal agenda from me at all, we have always advertised on this site, and, for instance, our last meeting filled the Blues Bar, just using this site.
I have no problem at all with DC 2.
The SBs is not about me, I’m a very small part of it, it just happens I am currently the Chairman, as a member, you have the opportunity to vote at the AGM next month, if you are not happy with my role on the committee you can simply vote for a change, it’s that simple.
If someone can copy my postings for me onto DC 2 I would be delighted! Its purely down to time and not being completely au fait with modern technology that is the only reason.
As far as publicising the Senior Blues, we have now been going for nearly 8 years, I think most Chester fans know about us now and when we meet. The office will always tell those who don’t know.
I find it strange that you have refused to rejoin purely because “The Chairman can’t be bothered” The Senior Blues is run by committee, I’m purely the Chairman, I do NOT make any decisions on my own, that is NOT how we work.
I can assure you, we ARE very much “bothered” in keeping the Senior Blues successful, and as far as “depriving” the club of money, can I remind you our members raised over £8,000 for the club last year alone!
I hope you will attend a meeting and introduce yourself to me, and I can discuss any problem you have with me.
Can I also assure you, that a lot of work goes on between meetings by our committee, the SBs does not run itself, but, we all have lives outside football too.
The Senior Blues IS a very successful part of the football group, and that is down to our BRILLIANT members and the hard work of the committee!

Chris, I don't have a problem with you per se and appreciate the work you have put in with the SBs. However my criticism remains that it is absurd not to promote the meetings, trips etc on the other Deva Chat, and it is almost as if you want a closed shop of existing members rather than attract new blood.
Surely a Committee member, if not yourself, can spare 5 minutes simultaneously posting on both boards. Your reply to my e mail must have taken a lot longer than promoting the next meeting on the other board.
You were a businessman so refusing to use the other board is akin to selling your wares in a corner shop when you had the opportunity to sell in a supermarket.

Some people on DC2 really have a problem with the very existence of this site. They're actively encouraging people not to post on here. Red rag to a bull that for me. Long live DC - and DC2.

I think it would be an idea to post updates on DC2, NFBF, or at least get somebody else to. Someone on there was asking about whether the Senior Blues was happening this week, so it suggests your updates on here are not getting through to everyone. Nobody reads this site anymore, sadly.

I’ve just posted on Deva Chat 2 that I’d be quite happy to copy and paste any Senior Blues news posted on here as that forum now has a far wider audience than this one. Also, it may encourage more members to turn up to meetings and trips who previously didn’t know, therefore making our club gain more money.

NFBF normally puts SB news on here and also asks for it to be published on the club's official website.

I see news of Friday's meeting has now gone onto the official website, which makes you think the ground repairs are going well smile.gif

Well done Rio, at least somebody has a bit of vision of promoting and growing the senior blues membership. Just a shame you are 80 years too young. Would make a damn fine chairman.

Almost overwhelmed with members this morning, we ran out of chairs! Great to see a full room again.
Our meeting opened wth the Chairman, DAVID HARRINGTON-WRIGHT telling us about the immense amount of work that has gone into the ground to enable the game against Bradford tomorrow to go ahead. The damaged electrics have all been replaced, and we now have a very hi-tec HD public address system plus the latest technology with the public order cameras, that now, the chairman says, enables the Police to read a programme read by a supporter in the away end stand. (If they so desired of course! )
Our next guest was DAVID WILLIAMS the club director, who is responsible for the “Inclusive Blues” part of the football club.
David gave a very very interesting talk, (Read out by Peter Mitchell) with help of a video presentation operated by David.
He started out telling us about his life right from his birth, the difficulties his parents had in dealing with his disability.
It became very clear that from an early age David was determined to be independent, and he got himself a job at Manweb after leaving college, but his heart was in journalism, which he was able to do by reporting on motor racing at Oulton Park on a part time basis, he now writes for numerous motor racing magazines and blogs as well as his work at Chester F.C.
David told a very amusing story about one of the games he attended in his first years of supporting Chester F.C. He became ill during the match, and is it turned out, the Police ended up escorting David out of the ground and taking him home in a Police car much to his Mothers consternation!
David presented a video about how he manages his specially adapted car, getting in and driving, he passed his test six months after getting his car! He then showed us how he transfers himself from his wheelchair to his easy chair at home, which was a work of art on its own!
He then showed us a video of how he has made a machine that now feeds him, that really was an incredible bit of kit.
Everyone in the room was incredibly in awe of David and how he has overcome his disability and enables to live a fulfilling life
and remain so independent.
David is a fantastic asset to the club, and the chairman said he is a very active contributor to Board meetings, certainly an inspiration to us all.
Our last guest was SHANE PINNINGTON who gave a fascinating insight into local radio. He has a number of roles at the DEE 103, one of them is the responsibility for the music output at the station. He was questioned about the music policy at the radio station and said it was similar to R2s output at the BBC.
He went into his role about reporting on Chester FC, and the many miles he has travelled doing so, but he is a Chester supporter at heart, and said it was all worth it. He explained the difficulty of reporting on difficult results, like the match at Blyth Spartans, but has to remain objective.
He said the club and the managers at the club were very cooperative, and he a had a great working relationship with them which made his job a lot easier.
He occasionally has to attend matches at Premier League games which he enjoys, but he still prefers to come down to his hometown club.
For the first time in our SBs history a fresh meat pie was include in the raffle prizes! Kindly donated by PETER (The pieman)
An excellent meeting again, and a big thank to everyone who attended, our next meeting is on Friday October 5th.
