Chester FC’s home match against FC United Of Manchester has been postponed today due to the damage at our stadium. This match was scheduled for Saturday 18th August at 15:00, whilst it may be a few weeks until we next play at home as it could take a while to repair the damage.

I’ve heard the damage at the ground is quite extensive and can’t see next Tuesdays game being on either. I reckon it could take quite a while to replace all the damaged wiring, ceilings etc, get it all tested and get the Safety Certificate reinstated.

Why can’t we reverse at least one of these games? Or the latest exuse will be match fitness if we lose the next game!

For the Kidderminster game to be switched, the league, both clubs and the local safety advisory group would have to consent. There is no way Kiddy will want to switch the Chester fixture, to which at least 500 will travel on a Saturday, to a Tuesday at 3 days notice which will attract 100 visitors and a reduced home gate. It would knock around 600 or so off the gate, average £10 a person, plus food etc. They would lose upward of £8000.

With our match against FC United Of Manchester being postponed, I decided to head to the Peninsula Stadium to watch Salford city beat Chesterfield 3-2 in an enjoyable game in Greayer Manchester. Here are my match highlights from the clash at Moor Lane:
