Yet another poor defeat makes this evening’s home game against Barrow a must-win. Hopefully Marcus will know a lot about our struggling opponents from his time there, which can be translated onto the pitch. Our players seriously need to realise this ridiculously long predicament and wake up now. Anything less than a win will not look good at all. Let’s hope we can get what we need. Come On City!
Score: Chester FC (White, Dawson) 2-0 Barrow
Attendance: 1,473 (112 Barrow)
COYB!

Trouble is, Barrow will look at our results and see this as a game they can win too, so it won't be easy.

Still, we've got 2 more new players to have a look at so let's hope they hit the ground running cityscarf.gif

Unbelievable!
When we went 2-0 up I thought we were cruising!
To concede 2 goals in the 46th and 47th minutes of the first half will be demoralising!

I hope Bignot can lift them back up to play the (entire) 2nd half as they played the first 44 minutes!!

Good win and well deserved, have to score three to win the games as we are gifting goals week in week out, astles McCombe partnership doesn't work for me too lumber-some one of them has to be dropped and I'm sad to say it's Astles at the moment, out of the drop zone, lots of positives

Bloomin’ unbelievable! What a great, entertaining game of football which we have been itching to see for a while. Superb performance which was a shadow of our previous 2 matches. It was good to get 2 important goals early so we could be a bit relaxed and settled, however in typical Chester fashion Barrow scored twice just before the interval 🙄. Ryan Astles should be responsible for the second goal tbh.
As the game went on we created some good chances and really got the crowd going. The players responded and gave it their all, but I was a bit anxious and thought that we were going to draw. Well well well, what happened after was unbelievable. We didn’t give up, then Lucas Dawson popped up on the edge of the D and struck a marvellous winner. I must admit, I did get a bit overexcited at the end and decided to go right by the players’ celebrations but what a win! It reminds me of the FC Halifax game a few years ago on TV.
What made me impressed the most was the manner of the game. We looked full of energy, wanted a response and put in 100% effort mostly. Our 2 new signings looked good. Archer has already got off the mark with a good goal whilst Gough got stuck in most of the time. Our midfield looked much more up for it tonight and had more energy as well.
This can be a very important win for us. Hopefully it is the turning point and can be a benchmark for the rest of the season. Now we are out of the drop zone, let’s not fall back in! Our players should now have the confidence restored into them and kick on.
What a win, topped off with a Wrexham defeat. Come On You Blues!

All four new signings have improved things. We got off to a great start and were well worth being 2-0 up going into half-time. An amazing minute or so just before the break saw Barrow get back to 2-2 with two long balls straight through our defence, unbelievable. Ran out of steam a bit in the second half but the substitutions livened things up again, and it was great to see a Chester team really going for the win at the end. After several near misses Lucas Dawson met a half cleared ball on the edge of the box and drove home the winning goal, brilliant finish.

I wouldn't want to meet Barrow FC's tug-of-war team at a summer fete, they'd be awesome. The amount of shoving, pushing, barging and shirt pulling going on was disgraceful and the officials let it all go. Really pleased we beat them cityscarf.gif

totally agree take astles out the firing line give him a rest whatever you want to call it the problem is i cant see any ready made replacement unless we bring another loan signing in
sure Astles would come back stronger just seems to be making a lot of costly mistakes recently

Can't take Astles out, he's the rock at the back on which everything is built.

Put it another way, anyone wants him out of the team, YOU go and tell him wink.gif
