After coming back to DC with yet again a new name and email address I was suprised to see how quiet it was.
I then found a link to the new devachat and couldn't believe how many old names are on there.
It seems to be buzzing with lots of topics.
Because I was banned by Devon blue and Canadian Exile so many times and for so long I must of mist out of what happened with DC.
Could someone please explain what did happen in plain English.

Basically Big Si had set up devachat 2.0 leaving the Chuckle Brothers 3mm and National Fronts biggest fan on here, with a couple of others. So everyone migrated to the new one. A few people would pop back and promote the new site, getting bans in the process.

In the meantime EltonblueS badgered Krankie and Devachat himself wanting the Chuckles removed thus preserving this sites history.

about sums it up, no new members could join and everyone was getting banned no wonder a new site was set up, but this site had to be sorted and has been, we the fans own this site, so we will keep it going and see what happens, hopefully people will consider using both sites, or perhaps there could be some sort of merge in the future who knows?

Can't see how they can be merged, they're two different websites. Leave it as it is and people can choose which one they want to use.

The damage is probably permanent. Personally I read and post on both.

I am still keeping an open mind about old DevaChat v New Devachat although I still think that this forum gives a more balanced view on all things CFC overall but maybe that's because of the alleged heavy moderating on here?

Interestingly enought though when I do go into the new site (usually via my phone) it surprises me how little is actually posted looking at the times of the last post. So I do wonder if it is that popular across the wider fanbase???

I admit some of the debates on new DC have been more hard hitting and some topics have been interesting reads but I would say overall it has also been a much more depressing forum and often quite viscious at times, particularly at the end of last season where it was a greater contender for the misery award than Eastenders.

This is my first post for ages (it has been good to have a rest) and I was quite pleased to see that this forum is still quite active from the dates of the topics started so I hope it doesn't die as I think there is probably room for two.

Roll on the new season and the debates! cityscarf.gif

I must admit I spent last night on the other devachat while the game was on.
So much more going on there with lots of topics and comments.
Pity no one here didn't have the balls to get rid of the power deluded pair that ruined this site.
Although I'll always come on here it does seem very quiet.

I've always said that there is more than enough room for two CFC forums (many Prem clubs have dozens of them each), and I don't know why people get so worked up about it, you either post on one or the other or (in my case) both, it is no big deal, live and let live I say.

Besides, there is a potentially very useful reason for having two forums to act as back up to each other in case one of them is hit by problems and is down for a period (as this one has been sometimes), such as when things like hacker attacks happen or someone forgets to put 50p in the server meter biggrin.gif

Agree, there is far too much grumbling about what the situation, even now when people have gone to great lengths to sort it on both forums. Maybe a 'thank you' or two might be in order to the likes of EltonBlues, Big Si for seeing a problem and actually doing something about it?

I think some people need to remind themselves that these are volunteer-run, unofficial forums. They're not "services". You don't pay to use them, and they're only here because people gave up their time to set up, administrate and moderate them. If you don't like the way they're run, that's up to you and you're free to set up your own or stop using them, but the entitlement some people seem to display in the way they demand answers and changes confuses me.

Or an apology from the two that ruined this site.

Deva chat was the go to place for all news on Chester, that privilege was taken away by a man from CANADA and DEVON! You couldn't make it up.

I personally prefer the new site, mainly due to the "like" feature, easy to just click it rather than post a message to approve a post you agree with.
