With the draw on Monday, who do hope to draw, Stockport who beat Salford today, another local possibility Nantwich who face a replay on Tuesday night?

Snap, for me this round has always been simply about winning and getting through to the round we traditionally entered the competition. Our home record is good and I'd back us to go through if drawn at home. Having a top awayday can wait.

Is it regionalised? Sadly Poole Town are out, that would be nice and local for me.

Today's results

Assuming it's regionalised north and south, I think we have to hope for Bishop Auckland, Stamford or Lincoln United at home.

Stockport at home would be a good one for a decent gate.

Southport at home. The players are crap, manager is crap and it's a guaranteed Chester win. Mahon v Hopeless Higgins would be a total mismatch.

Interesting that there's 40 teams in the south, with some quite lowly clubs involved there.

Outrageously unfair. Clear bias to southern National League teams. - 13 clubs from lower divisions in the northern section (11 National League) and 25 in the southern section (13 National League)! So virtually double the chance of a National League team in the south drawing a team from a lower division than in the north.

Is that not just who's qualified from the previous rounds? How does it work? There can't just be more places for Southern teams surely?!

I think there are more teams down south. Eg below National League North and South there are the Ryman, Southern and Northern Leagues. I'm guessing the southern half of the draw features teams who have risen up from the Ryman AND Southern side of the football step ladder (those two leagues have four feeder leagues). While the northern side is just the Northern League side (that league has only two feeder leagues).

In the meantime, we are ball number 2. cityscarf.gif

The North / South draw has the same impact in the FA Trophy. The 3rd round draw is always tough for a Northern team.

The regionalisation is intended to help teams, but actually hinders the Northern ones. I'm sure a smaller Northern team would rather play a smaller Southern team and have a better chance of getting through.

Good morning, Blues fans.
After the euphoria of Saturday we turn our attention to the FA Cup.
The fourth qualifying round draw is being made on Jim White's TalkSport radio show after 11.30am but we'll also be covering the draw as it happens for those who are out and about.
Here's hoping for a favourable home draw! cityscarf.gif

Yes, come on Blues.

Absolutely made up with this draw.

Mahon v Higgins. Like putting a Maserati against a unicycle with a flat tyre.

Ugh not a good tie. Similar to last year, away to a team struggling in the league. But if Southport are anything like we were for most of last year under Burr it should be a comfortable win. I bet Higgins will score though... I see Wrexham have another tie against lower league opposition.

Chester's powerful athletic players (Vassell, Hughes, Lloyd, Astles, Alabi, Akintunde, Richards et al) against a ragbag bunch of short arses assembled by one of the worst managers going there's only going to be one winner.

Get your book of excuses out Burr it's time for a hammering.
