Who's going to be the first to type the 'u' word?...

I think that's a good signing personally, he's not perfect but he's young and Sharps can really help him. He isn't as good as Ben but we were never going to replace him with a player of similar ability. Hopefully the first new signing of many.

Agree with you entirely, still young and certainly not a poor player.

Welcome aboard. Two of my favourite players of all time, Roger Preece and Jon Walters came from across the boarder and if he's half as good as those two he'll do ok.

For anyone that's seen the picture of him signing, so you think the camerman told them to both look miserable and tell Blaine that they ran out of pens so to pretend to hold one to the paper? laugh.gif

EDIT: The pen is camo'd in his hoody!

Chester sign centre-half Blaine Hudson on a one-year contract following his release by Wrexham.

Very good signing IMO. Him and astles at the back could be a strong partnership.

Put him with Astles and there's a very easy tactic we can employ. Make the opposition put high balls into the box and we should be able to defend them all day long smile.gif

if he was half as good as them would he have been released,

not bad in the air, poor with the ball on the ground needs a strong partner to give him direction...

one of a group at Wrexham who was "always on the ale" ... if he concentrates on his football and works hard learning from mistakes he will be fine he has youth on his side.

Don't see any reason why this isn't good news.

Right age, right physique, plenty of experience in this division and played consistently for a side above us in the league. I'm sure he was weaknesses or he wouldn't be at this level but if we can find a way to protect him, he'll be an asset.

Also, I think working with Ian Sharps will absolutely help his development. Sharps is clearly an excellent defender, he probably just played for one season too many

Walters was playing reserve football & they let him go for nothing.

Exactly. Let's give the lad a chance. Some people just seem determined to be doom merchants.

Not just the ale he's always on either.

Looks like Macca is wearing one of Burr's old jumpers in the signing on pix. Any chance of a Wardrobe Builder campaign to smarten him up before the season starts?

Worst player on the pitch when we beat them 3-2, Wrexham fans I work with said he was their worst player last season,
Hope we have a plan for him, no where near good enough to replace Ben

Has always come across as a fairly standard centre back at this level to me. Spoke to a Wrexham fan in work who said he’s fine.

Ben is likely to end up in League 1 or 2 if people on here are to be believed, therefore getting somebody the same level to directly replace him is extremely unlikely.
