Just come back from a holiday, in Le Rochelle and it is pretty chaotic.
The unions, in France are fighting the imposition of employment rights changes and unlike us, are not prepared to stand for it.
Travel is a nightmare. On the way there, they had closed the ports of Le Harve, Caen etc and the road to Paris.
On the way back, they had closed the petrol terminals and all the filling stations, in the North were shut. Also on certain days and with, increasing frequency, only 25% of trains are running, due to a rail strike.
So, good luck to anyone travelling there for Euro 2016

I find it hard to believe people genuinely think we won't get out of the group, especially because even finishing third will probably be good enough. Not getting out of a group with Russia, Slovakia and Wales in it would probably be England's worst failure to date. Do people really think it will happen or is it just typical English negativity?

Not sure why you don't wish Wales well. It's the Goats we don't like.

I hope that England and Wales both qualify from the group and stop the drug-cheating Ruskies.

I can only think of two major tournaments in over 20 years (Euro 2000 and the last World Cup) when England have gone out in the group stage, so hardly "the usual". Quarter-finals seems to be apart par.

I think Quarter-Finals is about par for England. Just a couple of Semi-Final appearances since 1966 (iirc).

Russia would probably still qualify from 3rd place knowing their luck

Russia aren't that great, and to be honest I think everyone is getting too excited about Wales who will probably finish bottom. I actually think Slovakia are being underestimated - a decent side who lead their qualifying group ahead of Spain for a while.

To hear pundits on R5 talking about "England can win it"are laughable.

There have been some unlikely winners of this tournament over the years, like Denmark in 1992 and Greece in 2004. It's not unthinkable England could win it but I'm not getting my hopes up!

Thanks for that.
I am one of those Welsh Chester fans, and like you hope that we both get out of the group.
That will do me for Wales, job done, but England should get further if he plays the kids!

Both camps have had a bit of 'we can win it' coming from them in recent days which makes me cringe.
No chance for Wales, and an outside bet for England.

England won't win it, how many times do we/the media say this every tournament and then fail to deliver?

I used to get hyped up back in the day for a World Cup or a European Championship, but no longer. Too many raised hopes and crushed dreams following another crap penalty shoot-out, or a abject hammering against Portugal or Germany...

Do we never learn?

Wales won't win it either, success will be qualifying from the group and/or getting points off England in the group stage. England should expect to win the group, although given how crap we are at the back I have a feeling we will possibly finish 2nd and then get knocked out in the next round.

If we get to the knock out stage, which I think we will, we are disadvantaged in that we will then have to then win games in open play, because there's no way we will ever win a penalty shoot-out.

If we get to the Semi's it would be a massive achievement.

We've no chance of winning it with Cahill masquerading as a centre back.
The inclusion of Henderson and Wilshere would most certainly jeopardise anything past the last 16.

I think the money has to go on Spain.

Thought Stones had a great game last night, as did Bertrand at full back. But clearly Heaton was the M.O.M.
