"I think it'll help them to regain a bit of confidence and get some games. That's what we've done with Tom and with Sam too going out to Witton and getting some experience there".

Suprised about Richards. Has looked a threat coming off the bench this season.

I'd be careful posting facts on here with a certain moderator lurking around... You could end up with such slanderous facts being deleted and a banning order heading your way.... wink.gif

I'm disappointed about Thompson, but it's the managers decision.

I don't think it is a case of SB not fancying him. He needs to gain fitness/form. The best way to do this is for him to go somewhere where he can do so.
We do not have the luxury of putting out of form players on to give them a run out. And lets face it, if Thommo came in and was off the pace or scratching
for form he would get slated on here. He is better off regaining himself in someone elses team...I think he will come back a much better player.

I agree. Think it provides both an opportunity to build up match fitness and sharpness. Saw Thompson at welling and he never really got into the game and looked off the pace

That should be a good move for him and for us, although FCU are struggling a bit at the mo.

George Thomson scored his second goal in four games when F C Utd beat league leaders Nuneaton last night

I still think he is worth an extended run in the team to give him a chance.

We were playing better when he and Kane Richards were making appearances off the bench.

It's the same old, same old. Neither of those players will thrive in a team that hoofs the ball forwards. In the games against Southport and Guiseley Thomson really struggled but that's because he was asked to either play up front on his own or play just off Hannah whilst the ball was hoofed forwards. It's the same reason many of our other forward players have struggled this year but 'the best manager in non-league' seems to perservere.

Or it could be he has dropped down a league and is able to compete with lesser defenders than the National league?

I think at the very least, Thomson, Richards and Peers are able replacements for anybody underperforming in the team.

At the moment, a number of our players are more or less undroppable, not because they're doing particularly well, but because there's nobody else.

I think he's quality, and we'll be making a mistake if we let him go. You only have to look at the two goals he scored for us last season - superb technique in both.

for me he would be my no 10 between the midfield and ross hanna

think they would work well

kane just needs time but always looks good off the bench
got more drive than chapel for me
chapel needs to tackle more at a 50/50

Highlights from the game. George Thomson's goal is 1 min 50 secs in. Keep watching though, there's a cracking own goal 5 minutes in biggrin.gif

I would give him more opportunities, certainly. Rooney is almost undroppable it seems.

Was informed he played in the hole behind the striker. The lad is a classy player, no doubt about it.

I have always liked the guy, has a lot of good qualities, keeps the ball moving, tecnically good, links the play up well, not afraid to shoot (something we are lacking) and Hannah would love service from behind with little through balls.

Would be great to see Hannah uptop, George behind with Mahon and Kane outwide to support with two players holding Rooney and George.

Unfortunately the lad has barely had a kick this season, I think its four starts and how many completed 90 minutes? Not many. He has been treated poorly, if he showed nothing in 6-7 games on the bounce I could understand loaning him out.

Same goes for Kane Richards as well, when I see the likes of Shaw, Hobson and Chappel all amble about doing nothing it frustrates me.

Whenever anyone is out of the team everyone says "he hasn't had a fair chance" etc etc. When he was handed a start earlier in the season everyone was saying he looked lost.

Rooney isn't a holding midfielder, if you are going to play Thompson you have to drop Rooney, and in my opinion Rooney is a far more talented player than Thompson.
