I am absolutely disgusted and embarrassed by the today's performance and Barnet wasn't even a good team I don't even think I've ever seen the Chester team that bad and for the penalty what an embarrassment and for a semiprofessional footballer can't even kick the ball and for the sending off The ball was there to be won it was a 50-50 challenge i'm sick and embarrassed

Real shocker that! I know it's only the first game but it was a real hiding to lose at home 0-5 even with ten men is unacceptable, If the club doesn't come up with some money quickly to get additions to the squad we are in for an even rougher time after witnessing that SH*TE!

Although I would debate that Barnet weren't good...other than the dodgy No.6 I thought they looked a decent well balanced side....that was the worst performance since we were reformed. Terrible by Worsnop, terrible by Harrison. The only ones who come out with any credit for me are Hobson and Roberts. Everyone else needs to sort themselves out. Winn wants to get himself fit. Burr needs to sort this quickly - too lightweight for this league yet again.

Simply humiliating.

That lose was not because of Worsnop, Hobson or any one individually.

The squad is too thin in numbers and too weak in ability.

We have four wingers, three goalies but only one tackling midfield (now suspended)

Last year was awful with no attacking ambition from youngy, this year could be humiliating.

Easy to say in hindsight I know but I had a feeling we would get mullered today. It was never going to be an easy game but as soon as it was announced that a number of players had been ill during the week it just seemed that we were doomed to struggle.

How do we know that any money will be spent wisely? I wouldn't bet against another keeper being signed!!

Absolutely dire. Worse than anything last season and that was sh1te. I know we've got a budget and yes I know SB started buying for the Conference North than had to adjust to the Prem but we are a shambles, a joke, an embarrassment, gutless and spineless, no pride, not much ability. I won't be forking out every week these new prices to watch a team that would have got battered by the Evostik Premier Chester FC.

As I saw it today:

Worsnop 2/10: Quite how SB thinks Worsnop is our best keeper is beyond me. Saw him in pre-season being sent off at Marine and until today hadn't seen him make a save. Gave away another stupid penalty and let a couple of goals go through him . Just not convincing. Not good enough for this level.

Taylor 5/10: Felt a bit sorry for him today. Not ready for this level and left exposed by Mahon who didn't bother tracking back. At least he tried.

Brown 2/10: Utter garbage. A man mountain who's too easily pushed off the ball and bullied. Too slow. Was hopeless last year too. At least he's consistent.

Charnock 2/10: Clearly bought for conference north. Game passed him by, as did Barnet's strikers.

Roberts 5/10: One of the few to play anything like. Not terrible, just not great.

Mahon 4/10: Not sure where he was playing second half but first half he left our young right back exposed. Didn't pose any threat.

James 4/10: Part of a midfield that got overrun. Neat on the ball but that's not enough.

Harrison 0/10: Welcome back, you were sh1te. Let the whole team down. If we'd kept 11 on the pitch we could have lost 0-4

Winn 6/10: Worked hard and looked a threat. Put in some great crosses, just a shame we don't do anything with good service. Clearly not fit as stopped moving before being subbed.

Rooney 3/10: Not sure how to describe his performance, he's got genuine quality, he just hides it well. Likes going forward, not keen on helping out when we defend.

Hobson 6/10: didn't deserve some of the stick he got from the HM. Worked his socks off but without the quality to beat a man and without any support

Steve Burr 1/10 Picked his 3rd best keeper to start. Gave the captaincy to Brown who showed last season he shouldn't be in the team, never mind captain. When SB turned up lasts season he got Youngs hopeless team performing better so clearly he can motivate. What he hasn't shown yet is the ability to make a good signing. Can anyone name a good signing he's made? No? Me neither. The team just isn't good enough for this division.

Agree with most of those ratings, but personally I thought Roberts was one of the worst performers. What was he doing for the fifth goal?

In an effort to play creative football Steve Burr told the team that they should think like Brazil. Shame that Martin Allen obviously told his side to play like Germany...

Today was absolutely awful, there was no defensive shape to the team whatsoever once we lost the ball which i assume is down to match preparation. Worsnop has to be one of the worst keepers ive ever seen, and the lack of communication between the centre backs was very concerning. Brown is an awful choice of captain as all he seemed to do was loose his head and point at everyone when he got shrugged off the ball by Akinde. A long and stressful season awaits it seems...

Absolutely SH*TE performance, poss worst since we reformed, no passion, no pride, no thought, no spine, no guile, no gust, no direction, no ethic, no cohesion, no f**kin anything absolutely ashamed to wear the shirt today for some if those lads, back four disgrace James average rest SH*TE, worsnop needs to be dropped as feel third goal was totally unacceptable should go diving at the feet like that lucky not to be sent off think the ref had a second thoughts, Rooney pen was a joke hit is so soft sort of scuffed it, need a central mid fielder and an attacker urgently, like I say worst performance since reformed hope it's the last one we see like that in a while, don't think SB will tolerate that sort of performance, I think hall will start in goal on Tuesday, feeling s**t however must stay positive as could be in a worse situation ala Hereford 0/10 no positives to note.

This is a FAN OWNED club so it's up to the fans to come up with the money surely? How about £10,000 each to the Squadbuilder fund? Oh, wait......you don't HAVE that sort of money? Whose fault is that?

"The club" is not some sort of generic object. It is is FAN OWNED AND THE FANS HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY. That is what fan owned means I believe.

One of the problems, rarely discussed, with fan owned clubs (see under the original Ebbsfleet set up) is that a very high percentage of football fans are in low paid even s**tey jobs earning s**tey money for s**tey employers but are usually very good at telling other people how to spend (or raise) money they themselves will never see.

How a "fan owned" club resolves this crucial issue is unknown to me. Will any money be spent wisely? Good question. Do lots of football supporters spend money wisely? Some, I know, p**s quite a lot away against a wall and then whinge about the cost of season tickets. Not that this happens at a fan owned club like Chester of course but it certainly happens elsewhere. "Mummy, I haven't got any money so to help my club I want people who HAVE got money to turn up."

Sound familiar? No one is going to come up with any serious money for Chester - or most other lower league clubs - because it is not a going commercial prospect on which anyone would expect a return apart from the romantic tripe of football supporters wanting success just so long as someone else pays for the success that they so treasure. Ask most football supporters to come up with serious money themselves - say £5000 each for starters - and you won't see them for dust. I wonder why that is?

What we needed to see yesterday was progress - that's all I was expecting, not a win or even a draw - just progress. With the decisions made off the field this summer we were promised progress so it wasn't an unrealistic expectation. What I saw was one of the worst displays of football in 20 years following the blues. Recruitment wise we have a squad of players worse than that recruited by NY last season - that was abundantly clear yesterday. Not only can we not score goals but we can't keep them out either. The board have a decision to make fast - either invest some of that 33k profit in signing the players we need to survive or watch us compete with Hyde's points total last year on crowds of 1,500 - to me that's the reality. SB needs to answer criticism on the signing of players such as Worsnop, Hobson and Charnock - clearly players who should be in the Evostick at best!

Good post, although I suspect the £33K was used fill fill a gap in funding from the previous season's profligacy.

I get the frustration , but I think we all need to stay calm, yes there are things that need sorting out and I am sure that SB and his team will have that in hand. There are players that haven't played yet that SB might have wanted to start but wasn't in a position too. There are certainly players that need to have a good look at themselves and perhaps need to think about being a team and not individuals. I am disappointed at some of the remarks made on here, but understand why people want to vent. That said let's not destroy our team and request big changes, let the team develop and we will see.
