I posted about the scottish notes on here a while back, a mate filled me in as to what was going on So what was going on ? Police are warning consumers and businesses to be on the lookout for a batch of forged Scottish bank notes. Officers say the fake Clydesdale Bank five pound notes are on good quality paper although they all have the same serial number - EEB 496145. Other ways of recognising forged notes include visible watermark and raised printing -------------------- can not have free speech ! :o(

It can't be the same ones, although I know Scottish notes are supposed to be easier to forge. Forged Scottish notes. -------------------- |

So that's a good few thousand pounds paid all in £1 Scottish notes?
No, that doesn't sound at all suspicious in any way whatsoever. [Oops, they weren't £1 notes, were they?] This post has been edited by Trebor: Feb 1 2010, 08:24 AM |

Nope. And due to a quirk of the UK system, they aren't technically even legal tender in Scotland.

There is actually no such thing as legal tender in Scotland. Scottish notes should be acceptable in England, but forgeries are harder to spot, as the security features of the various Scottich notes in circulation are not as widely known as their Bank of England counterparts. For that reason, many places in England will not accept them.
On the subject of SV paying in Scottish notes, I wouldn't accept an English note off him- never mind a Scttish- without conducting every security check possible first! |
