As Sue has posted on another thread, we have found out that FC Broxbourne Borough will be opening their Social Club tomorrow afternoon/evening ahead of the Youth Match KO 7.30pm.

Just to confirm that the Exiles meeting place remains The King James, Wetherspoons in Cheshunt (Turners Hill) EN8 8LF but we will be moving on to the Social Club between 6.30- 6.45pm to meet up with the fans travelling down from Chester. I hope to be in Wetherspoons by around 5.30pm if I can get away from work on time!

Looking forward to supporting our young players tomorrow evening and sending best of luck to Calum and the team from all Exiles everywhere. cityscarf.gif

Taken from Chester's twitter:

HALF TIME | Broxbourne 0-0 @ChesterFC. #Blues looking confident in places - but an awkward pitch is playing its part.

78' | What a save that was. Brown hits one from inside the area but it's palmed away by the Broxbourne keeper. (0-0)

Great display from our youth team tonight and a pulsating match throughout. It was a great watch! In the end Broxbourne edged it but the Blues (or Yellows on the night) had been well in control for a lot of the match and it will be gutting for them to lose by one goal so late in the match having held them at Full Time and being denied the chance of a replay.

Every player gave their all and never gave up even when they went behind so late when their legs must have felt like lead on an unforgiving pitch. They ran their hearts out all match and looked far more mature and professional in their play for their young age.

The great performance is no consulation to them and Calum when you're knocked out of the FA Youth Cup but as others have said on here and on Twitter, they have done themselves and Chester FC Academy very proud and it was a great privilege to have the opportunity to see them play tonight.

Well done everyone. With so much talent on show, it gave us great heart that the future is very bright for Chester FC. cityscarf.gif

I agree that there was a tremendous atmosphere at Broxbourne with a big crowd of lots of school age fans. We probably had 100+ there with the exiles. I have no complaints about the result as Broxbourne were the better team and but for the heroics of the Chester GK Broxbourne would have won more convincingly. I think the Chester lads struggled to control the ball on a very uneven surface and it was very difficult for them to get any momentum going. We did however have our best chance just before the end of 90 minutes, but our player headed straight at the keeper. I always felt we might nick one as the time ran out, but it was not to be. Well done the Chester lads and a great achievement to reach the 3rd round. It was probably the biggest game in Broxbourne's history judging by the big turnout.
