Kevin Rapley. I seem to remember some Colchester fans were disappointed they'd let him go.

In terms of how players were at Chester compared to at their peak, I thought Kevin Ratcliffe was a pale shadow of his former self in his year playing for us before becoming manager. His pace had totally gone.

Steve Harkness is a reputation that comes to mind.

He'd be my number one disappointment too. What made it worse was when he left he scored a ruck of goals for Stockport crying.gif

I don't think these two had a reputation to live up to but they certainly didn't create a good one during their "stay" at Chester.

As for Derek Fazackerley, I thought he did well for Chester. I do remember a fair few balls going over the Popular Side roof though biggrin.gif

Same as Barry Butler, 100% effort player. Although I believe the windows in the office block weren't as clean as they could have been while he was at the club. Just an observation that was made at the time. unsure.gif

Given we supposedly paid a six-figure sum for him, you'd have to include Blundell really. He never regained form after the Gilks incident, but I'm not sure he was really that brilliant a striker anyway - certainly not one worth the amounts being talked about.
