I can just imagine him scoring a 30-yard free kick or penalty into the Harry Mac goal..... ugh.

I'd rather we didn't even acknowledge him or at least wait until we are 3-4 nil up.

We all know he's capable of scoring and if it's a late winner after we've been given him stick all game .... well that would be unbearable.

I'm sure he will get a very warm welcome when he comes to take a corner between the Harry Mac and East Stand especially . . . rolleyes.gif

After most of last season and with how he's been for them this season we have dodged a massive bullet in a big wage for someone who is so inconsistent. Despite picking up some form and being their top score their fans still think he's utter SH*TE, so a 30 yarder in the Harry Mac is gonna happen rolleyes.gif

Despite his free kicks and his 1 good game every 10 we are well rid of him. He'll do well to get a contract with them for next season, he'll more likely end up with Burr at Southport.

At the end of the day he doesn't give 2 s**ts about any "Derby" or "history" both Clubs have, he was offered considerable more money by the brilliant man Mills so that Scouse s**t can play s**t week in, week out he's laughing all the way to the bank.

We should be cheering him for signing for them TBH.

If it was a straight swop between him and Elliott Durrell.
I would take Durrell,, any day of the week and he will be well up for this one. How did Wrexham let him go?

Durrell has certainly replaced Rooney’s goals from midfield some were concerned about losing. They are very different players though and Durrell carries out a different role than Rooney was asked to last season. Durrell is positive and loves to drive forward and take people on whereas Rooney holds play up and likes to play a pass through the eye of a needle.

I’ve heard Rooney say a few times he prefers a central role but I think you either have to sacrifice a striker or have a weak and unbalanced midfield for that to happen, it was the latter for us last season. With George mostly out injured he’d play alongside Shaw in the middle (handicapping him in to a holding role instead of pressing) and he’d end up with the ball dilly dallying doing a needless pirouette in his own half slowing the play down too much.

This season Shaw has been let off the leash to go and run around and press with a workaholic partner in Lloyd instead of being held back to accommodate someone else. It just works so much better and looks much more balanced.

Fully agree! Elliot is the far better player we done a good deal there to get rid of an inconsistent player and get who wants to show some real effort and actually play for us! Why waste time even talking about Rooney he's not worth it if he was a quality player we had lost and a threat to us then I could understand, let's hope for a win that's all that counts! cityscarf.gif

Rooney's getting a standing ovation from me. He did the decent thing and left and we now look like we have a proper midfield which goes forward rather than backwards and sideways.

I think the stick he's had this season by some has been a little unfair, he's just been an easy scapegoat because of how poor we were. I actually rate him, he can unlock defenses and score goals. A little to greedy at times though. As for Durell there was a lot of promise when he arrived to us, but he failed to deliver and looked well over weight. I'd have Rooney over him, but there's better out there that both sides can find!

Wow, a fair assessment from a Wxm supporter. I want to adopt you and turn you in a Chester fan.

As for the topic, I'm personally going to give him both barrels. No problem with him leaving, he has a family etc, but it was the manner in which he did it.
