All of the talk about michael owen playing for uswas quite funny! just noticed that he been intalks with west ham but its stalled at the mo due to his wage demands....like he gives a s**t about chester his home town club! hes just a greedy grabbing little SH*TE.
A friend of mine is from newcastle and apart from the fact he only played there because no-one else wanted him he was looked after by newcastle then got injured playing for england, newcastle looked after him helped him by paying to get his treatment and got him fit again.
Oh yea! and he was paid his wages of 100k a week for the 9 months he was injured.........the thanks mewcastle got?????? he played 2 games after he got back from injury then ASKED FOR A TRANSFER! if i was mike ashley i would have smacked the cheeky little git right between the eyes, ungreatful little c**t

Laughable thread, all players are the same, at any level . . . for example Simmo hasn't signed for Bangor (when he lives in Wigan) for the goodness of his health has he?

I was under the impression Newcastle released him or he left at the end of his contract, which lets face it, he's perfectly entitled to do.
Personally, I think Mike is a top bloke and im proud that a fellow Cestrian has achieved in the game what he has. He does a lot of local charity work that goes unnoticed and in keeping with the man he is he doesn't shout his mouth off about it.
Football is a cut throat business, let's not try to fool ourselves with stories of hard done to premiership clubs. Isn't that the Same Mike Ashley who's mugged off just about everybody to get where he is today?
As for Owen playing for us?! It's not really a goer is it? The lad is injury prone and has lost more than a yard of pace. Does he really need some big cart horse from Oxford City booting him up in the air for 90 minutes for a grand a week?

Got to be honest if I was good enough to play professional football I'd want to play as high a standard as possible. Just because I'm a Chester fan I wouldn't choose to play for Chester over another club where I could earn 20 or 30 or maybe even 50 times as much. It's a career not a hobby for the bloke. The fact he chooses to try and continue playing at the highest standard possible and earn as much as possible doesn't make him an ungrateful little c**t as you put it, it makes him a sensible career minded individual who is trying to make the most of his talents.

Get a grip on reality - Owen owes this club nothing.

I'm pretty sure that Messi once visited Chester zoo, but he continues to play at the highest level possible and earn as much money as possible instead of signing for Chester. GREEDY GRABBING UNGRATEFUL LITTLE c**t SH*TE.

Owen owes the club nothing yet still choses to promote the club on his twitter feed, come to matches when he can, buy his lad the kit and take part in our awards evening. Why do people expect more of him?

Well said Tom. If everyone on DC read this post, the fanciful ideas would surely be put to an end.

Good post, and did cross my mind also he would be a sitting duck for any frustrated journeyman donkey on his way out of the game wanting to make one last mark on someone else before hanging up his boots.

Such mis-spelt outrage and bile can not do your health any good.
Relax, take it easy....Think things through and come to simple conclusions in life. Do you think any footballer/ actor/ nurse/ shop-worker would not strive for the highest wage possible?

Spot on.

The bloke has a young family and no matter how rich he is its only natural that he would want to earn as much as possible to pass on to his children, grand children and great grandchildren in order to give them the best possible chance to make something of their lives.

Nice one Tom.

Although I'm sure someone on DC will moan and say it's an embarrassment to Chester.

Good luck to Michael Owen, big thanks for all the free publicity.

Some of the comments on here are laughable, how many of the keyboard clowns have left a job for more money ?

The bloke owes us nothing, and yet some cant wait to have a dig at him.

Great video that. How many clubs in worldwide football have a current footballer who's also played for Real Madrid turning up at their awards do to present an award?

He's a decent guy from a good family and he obviously cares about his City and his family's football club. That'll do for me.

I wouldn't class myself as a "keyboard clown" but as I was a contractor,so I
would be more of an "aviation whore".
Always looking for better paid jobs.
Now got a good job in Norway, don't think I'll go back to Airbus !

Great find that video.

Talking about maybe getting involved with the Club once he retires sound good!

His attendance at the Awards Evening was one of the well kept secrets until the day itself, and having MO linked to the Club in whatever way can only be a good thing. What happens in the future we won't know until it happens of course, but if it does then I'm sure every Chester fan would welcome his involvement with open arms.

I'd like to think that this post is an example of extreme irony, the problem is I don't think it is. Sad doesn't begin to describe it...
