I sincerely hope they know what they are letting themselves in for.

All seems very "MYFC Ebsfleet" type to me. I suggest CFU hold discussions to find out what their business plan is exactly and how they are going to pay off the crippling debts.

I sincerely hope that The FA actually do their job in regards to the fit and proper persons test before this new lot get anywhere near controlling the club

Have just had a thought pop into my head...

Didn't Gary Metcalf buy us out last summer? We had a big press conference and everything. Hold your horses on this one, folks! wink.gif

I won't believe anything untill I've seen the Vikings come sailing down the River Dee in their ships, wearing their LAUDRUP 10 shirts.

If the announcement has come from the club then it's a ploy to convince the Conference and HMRC to save us, IMO.

Agreeing a deal and coming up with the finances to see it through are very different. But this will undoubtedly lead to the High Court not granting the winding up order, and may also convince the Conference clubs not to vote to expel Chester.

Its just flaming typical that as soon as CFUs plans for a fan run club start picking up pace something like this would come along.

I would much rather have a brand new fan run pheonix club than a club who are controlled in a similar way to Ebbsfleet but by a group of people who wont even be based here and given the level we will be at next season probably wont have a clue whats going on here on a daily basis

I think I'll still be backing the CFU at this point. There is ONLY one way forward for football in Chester.

Well good to see so much positivity rolleyes.gif

Shall we give them a chance? At least it could mean the club's history is preserved.

Look at whats happened to teams like Portsmouth tho. Their new owners both managed to walk in and take over with nothing more than a promise that money would be available only for a few months down the line when the money hasnt appeared they are left up s**t creek.

I fully expect these new bunch will be allowed to take over with very few checks done with regards to them coming up with the finances to clear the debts

Indeed. Could be a desperate attempt by Vaughan to keep the club alive until the end of the season.
If it looks like we are being sold then clubs are more likely to vote to keep us in next week and HMRC might not press for liquidation in the hopes they will get their money in full. By the time it is revealed the sale isnt going through the conference will take another 2 months to take any action by which point we are at the end of the season anyway.

If they are for real its still all very worrying given that the background section of their site seems to be very poorly informed.

They way they describe how we used to be in league 2 seems to indicate that they think that is actually the 2nd tier of english football seeing as how they refer to our position under Rush differently as "the 4th best league"

They also seem to massively underestimate our debts with us being about 250,000 kroner (£29,000) in tax debt and a similar amount in other debts which in.

If they think they can clear our debts with about £60,000 they are in for a shock.

No, I was attempting to remind people that earlier this season Stephen Vaughan was announcing that Frank Warren was about to ride over the horizon to rescue the club, but that he then denied having any knowledge about it. A smokescreen like this one?
