Do you remember Woolworths when it was were "Next" is now? first shop in Chester that used to sell Albums of current Chart hits, but not sung by the original artists, they used to sell well, because they were cheap! On the "Embassy" label i think.
Believe it or not Elton John sang on them when he first started.
Those Albums are collecters items now!

Were they the ones call 'Top of the Pops'? They used to bring them out every few weeks and they had a dolly bird of the cover (nothing as classy as Sian Adey-Jones though). I'm sure that we have a few in our loft. They were awful, so yes, I can believe that Elton John sang on them! biggrin.gif

We used to spend a lot of time in Woolworths because they had the best range of Airfix kits which were very popular with lads back then. I wonder how many kids make Airfix kits these days?

Woolworths shop that was by the clock was the easiest shop in town to shoplift from. ph34r.gif

They were indeed AB! apparently they are of some value now! I'm sure that Sian Adey-Jones appeared in some fashion shows that i was involved in around that time.

Airfix kit's,loved them, when i was first married, and lived in a little bed-sitter in Manchester, used to love doing them,(Well what else http://www.dailymail.co.uk/could i have been doing?) and used to have all these American bombers hanging from the ceiling dropping their bombs on nylon string!

Just found and read through all of this old thread thanks to 3mm. what nostalgia. The Talbot !! Used to go from there to The Olde King's Head and then down yo the Billet. They were all rammed nearly every night as I remember. Occasionally we would pop into the Cross Keys opposite run by an old lady I think was called Sarah. She had no draught beer just old dusty bottles that I think might have been Old Chesters. You could get that in Quaintways- consistency like syrup. Saw some great bands in there - Thin Lizzy, Ten Years After, Chicken Shack many times, Fleetwood Mac. Oh for a decent music venue in Chester now. Storyhouse doesn't really do it for me.

Ps. Whatever happened to Blues on Top.
