Ian Rush has been in charge now for 30 league games
P W D L F A Pts 1st 10 10 5 4 1 12 7 19 2nd 10 10 1 5 4 11 19 8 3rd 10 10 2 2 6 4 16 8 Total 30 8 11 11 27 42 35 It's quite clear from the above that he has stopped the rot which set in during the 2nd 10 games, where our points tally fell by 11 from 19 to 8. If his master plan hadn't been put into action and the same rate of decline had continued, we'd have mustered a measly - (yes minus) 3 points in the last 10 games. For God's sake, what do you want? The man has steadied the ship. Ok, that may have been achieved partly at the expense of the open attacking football we'd been used to and the goals for tally in those last 10 games has slipped to 4. But come on, give the man a break, get behind him and your team. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU. |

I suppose various copies of those statistics will be printed off and displayed all over the social club next week for the opposition fans to read, as is the norm

The ship he is steadying is, I am afraid, the Titanic.

The honeymoon ended and the rot began with the defeat at Yeovil.
Since then? Won 3 (Kiddy Rushden and Macc) Drawn 7 Lost 10 16 points from 20 games. 4 goals in the last 10 games. 8 of those scoreless. And by playing an ugly style that's getting us nowhere bar a pile of red and yellows. Deplorable. Sack him. This post has been edited by Clare's amazing underpants: Feb 27 2005, 09:34 AM |

You are being sarcastic, right? ![]() It's a telling set of stats you've put together anyway though. The rot which set in during the middle ten games yielded eight points. The following ten games also yielded eight points, which means we're just as bad now as we were during that period - in fact, when you consider six of the points came against Rushden and Kidderminster, you could pretty much say we're in a whole world of trouble couldn't you? Not least when they're the only two sides we've scored against in the past ten games. |

Rush has almost achieved his first target ... keeping us up. If you remember our league position when he took over we were making Cambridge and Kidderminster look good!
His second target ... the play-offs or promotion ... we've never looked like getting there. When he first came all that good form was needed just for us to catch up. Since those first 10 games we've seen a lot of changes to the squad and loan players coming and going. Difficult. Anyway, target number one - finish above 2 teams and stay up ... looks achieveable barring a disaster. Target number two, finish above 20 teams and go up, well... maybe next year... ![]() -------------------- On match days ... we ALL play!

I wish I could be that confident that we were safe. At the moment, there is still a way to go, with a team that must be very short on confidence, and undoubtedly is very short on ability and organisation.

Complete crap, all this `staying up for now, build on it next season` stuff, it`s just the quote of a manager with no confidence at all who`s hedging his bets. He can`t really lose, if we go down he`ll say we had no money and had to sell players and if we finish 3rd bottom he`ll say told you so now we`ll build on it. Trouble is we won`t build on it because he`s a crap manager who hasn`t got a bleeding clue and if he stays for one more season if we don`t go down this year we certainly will in the following one. Don`t forget the `lots of changes to the squad and loan players` is down to Rush. Yeah, maybe we didn`t have money but he`s the one who bought these non-descript players in and who can`t seem to get them to play together. It really, REALLY p*sses me off when managers spout all this `let`s concentrate on staying up` crap. If you`ve got no ambition, no faith & no confidence (which he obviously hasn`t) then he shouldn`t have taken the job in the first place the spinless gimp. There`s no excuses left for Rush now, he`s dragging this club down and if people think there`s no way we could relegated this season then I believe they need to think again. |

If we can take an average of a point a game from our remaining 11 games, we will have 48 points...........Meaning Cambridge will have to WIN 7 of their remaining 11 games to keep up.
