The whole point of the conflict in Afghanistan isn't to 'win' it, but its to keep the Taliban busy and importantly out of Pakistan.

If we had not gone in when we did then there is a very good chance that the Taliban would have Nuclear Weapons by now, surely not something even the most liberal minded person would want.

palestinians? wtf has it got to do with them?

and the taliban have been beaten in afghanistan. it is they who are now fighting an unwinable guerilla war

iraq, however, was an excuse - if anywhere shouldve been invaded it should have been saudi or yemen perhaps

The 'Palestinian Homeland' is a myth. 'Palestine' was a purely European invention. It did not exist prior to about 1916, once Turkey was defeated in the First World War. The term 'Palestinian' therefore, used as a national identity, is questionable. Whatever you call them, however, no doubt there are people there that desire a 'Homeland', and they might even deserve one, but Israel never 'stole' land from them.

"The Worlds Biggest Terrorists", as you put it, voted in the UN for the creation of Israel, along with 32 other countries in 1947.

Countries who voted "Yes" were:
Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Byelorussia, Canada, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Iceland, Liberia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Union of South Africa, USSR, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela.

Countries who voted "No" were:
Afghanistan, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Yemen.

Abstentions:
Argentina, Chile, China, Colombia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Mexico, United Kingdom, Yugoslavia.

the lands of palastine where about long before the nation of Israel although not as we know them , part of modern day Syria was in palastine.
Palastine then was not a muslim statet nation that did not happen untill the middle ages when Syria was over run by muslims.
Modern day its true they need to be given back what was theirs, but then you would have to give them bits of syria and Eygpt which I dont think would go down well with the locals

Its one of those arguments that can never be solved as no matter how far back you go through history there will always be a different claim over who owns the land. The fact is most concepts of national identity and pride around the world were created by individuals looking to gain or retain power.

Im sorry, but the Israel argument is much different.
Rich Jews from around the world moved into the area and bought up land, and with the help of the zionist lobby in congress, managed to push out many of the native palestinians.
You cannot, and should not be allowed to kick people out of the land they occupy due to the argument that 'god has given it the jews as their homeland' it is a complete disgrace.

A nation run by bullies who believe in the bomb and the bullet as means of punishment, responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents, do as we say or else, relentlessly consuming around 80% of the worlds natural resources,
Would love to see them hand back the land they stole (stole through genocide, mass ethnic cleansing etc)
I am of course talking about the good ole U.S of A.

I do not buy the Daily Mail, all newspapers in this country report the ongoing Palestinian problem, most if not all are more sympathetic to the Palestinians,i tend to agree with the above posts about how Israel stole their country, with the help of the British unfortunately in 1948.
The Jewish lobby in America, and to a smaller extent in this country are stifling justice for the Palestinians, one always hear about the Jews suffering in the holocaust (Quite rightly) but they are in danger of treating the Palestinians in the way the were treated themselves by the Germans,it's not hard to understand why, outside the USA, that the Israel get s very little sympathy for it's case.
