"We're not lazy, I even take the dog out for a walk every day".

Well in that case Lardy, it's ok. rolleyes.gif

"On TV it says unemployment levels have hit two million. Audrey launches into a rant: "They should go to the JobCentre, look in the paper. People use too many excuses. You can't be fussy these days, you need to take what's available."

Does she count herself and her family in that? I ask. "Er, well, yes and no," she stammers."

There's some fantastic quotes in those links NFBF!

If the family, as they claim, spend £50 a week on food - what do they spend the rest of the money on?

It says here that Jamie Oliver is going to cook for Barack Obama

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2...15875-21216352/

I'd prefer to see him cook for the Chawner family. It would make hilarious viewing I reckon. Better still let's have the family given a makeover on This Morning or something. Get the lazt fat idle slobs down a gym for a start.

What wonderful people are spawned in Britain.

Personally I would make them do some manual work so that they can earn their benefits and lose some bloody weight. It kills two (fat) birds with one stone!

However, I don't think this government encourages scratters like that to work but instead offers them five figure benefits in exchange for an "X" next to their party name every few years.

"All that healthy food, like fruit and veg, is too expensive" - 49p in Aldi you lazy articles!

"We're not lazy, I even take the dog out for a walk every day. I sit on the bench when I get to the bottom of the road but at least I'm still getting out." biggrin.gif Not a few mile a day then, just to the bottom of the road!

Quality quotes in those articles.

What's that girl on about, "I'm a student so there's no time to exercise"? When I was at Uni, I'd hit the gym 2/3 times a week and played football at least once a week, and that was around my degree and several other commitments. Students have the most time to exercise, and it's a good time to do it. Better to not put too much weight on at all than try and lose it.

I lost a fair bit of weight at Uni through sheer poverty!

Students! Sound as bad as the Chawner family.
Subsidised tuition, subsidised accommodation, cheap drinks on student nights, cheap haircuts, all that leisure time for the gym and football.........while us taxpayers are sweating buckets to pay for it!

To be honest, I find it difficult to argue too much.

In my last year, I had four hours a week of lectures. I used to think I could do the course as evening classes and get a full time job (at least from September - December before the coursework mounts up) instead of living off occasional loans than I had to pay back. I think too many people are shepherded into universities, largely by schools keen to maintain their statistics, when they may well be better suited to practical placements or office jobs.

I barely ever spent money on drinks to be fair, and I worked 10am til 11pm most days in my final year, and I'm now a taxpayer myself. Shame people have to have such a blanket disdain of students.

When I was at uni I spent much more on beer than on books. I doubt if things have changed much.

No excuse, I have a full time job am doing a degree and still make time to go to the gym, and do other sports and walking. Give them NONE of OUR money. We will see if they lose weight on the streets without sponging off us all.
