Just to show how in touch with ordinary, everyday things the tories are... I’m a Celebrity started last night and the first two “celebrities” introduced were Boris’s dad Stanley Johnson, and Jamie’s wife Rebekah Vardy.

When they met, Boris Snr asked her “are you an actress?”. “No”, she replied, “I’m married to England player Jamie Vardy.”

“And will he be out here playing in the Ashes?”

Shows to me how stretched the definition of "celebrity" has become. A footballer's wife and a politician's dad, really? I'm told a distant relative of mine played in Everton's first ever fixture, am I a celebrity?

I find that programme a bit sad. It's like the people on it are so desperate for a career, they're just humiliating themselves for a payslip.
