Don't know what they're drinking but I want some of it! guiness.gif

The next Southport manager has a real tough job on their hands though. We played really SH*TE at Haig Ave and still managed a win.

Can only see them going down this season, which is a shame as they are a tidy National League club with a decent fan base (minus the few embarrassing ones, but we all have those).

P.S. Wouldn't mind signing that Louis Almond fella if they do go down, he looked like the only sign of talent left in that squad. Good goal against us too.

Bit like the Tranmere Job - Brabin could well be back at Southport, if results don't pick up

He'll end up at Tranmere with Brabin.

Although apparently Neil Aspin has gone to Tranmere to help out on the coaching side.

Puts our "problems" in perspective - what are they (Tranmere), three or four points ahead of us with a budget probably up to three times greater?

I think that's a conservative estimate. Looking at the players they have signed, they should be running away with this league. Doesn't look good for Brabin.

Bearing in mind that the club relegated with them is top of the league, no it does'nt

Read an interview with Kevin Davies - said he was approached by Tranmere at the start of the season but decided to retire. He's 38, I think, but would be useful at this level.

Not a hope in hell. And most other managers would look upon the job as a 'short term contract' mainly because the team is crap, there is no
money to alter this, and they will get the sack pronto once it goes tits up. NO manager is going to leave a job to take that risk

Steve Burr - Chester have a better budget, better crowds, better ground and are more progressive - see Luke George - why would he come here?

Remember this guy banging the goals in for southport, comes across as a cheap appointment but one who will get time because he is a fan favourite.

We had it with Ian Rush of course, but saying that, I think he should've been given more time in the job.

Anyone who witnessed the 5-0 loss against Shrewsbury that season would beg to differ. Tactically inept.

Looks a good appointment to me. Only time will tell though.

He should certainly get them to score more goals being an ex-striker. Southport have scored the lowest in the league (15), 5 less than second lowest Welling (20). Judging by that stat, he might want to start thinking about signing himself as a player too!

Wouldn't compare to Ian Rush. Dino has had managing experience along with assistant managing at pro level.

Whilst I don't wish them to do too well, i do hope they stay up this season, by goal difference will do! Or by reprieval. Either works. cityscarf.gif

According to his Wikipedia profile he managed a whopping nine goals in total across two spells with Southport, being far more prolific at Leigh and Stevenage. From reading their forum the fans on the whole don't seem to be jumping for joy about his appointment, although I think they've had enough of the club constantly changing manager.
