Sensible appointment, hope we keep sharps as assistant as it seemed to work well. I know it was only a few games but the improvement was remarkable. He will be busy on the phone today trying to keep our key players I hope.

Not the biggest shock in the world! But an appointment I would agree with. Hopefully Macca gets on the phone to Hannah today to keep him here. Interesting to see what he does with the rest of the team regarding releasing players. I would think he would keep the majority of the squad here as he has a great relationship with them and they all want to do well for him, he seems to be able to get the best out of them too. If we can carry the momentum through to next season and play like we have the last 3 matches then we'll do alright. COYB

Agreed. A busy few days ahead of him. Ryan Lloyd would like to come back if he is released by Port Vale - a must signing IMO.

It would have been a shock if it was anything else. Congratulations Macca and Sharps, and the players for keeping us up. Welcome to the management role in our fine club. cityscarf.gif

A sensible appointment. Kept us up, when we may have gone down.
Get Sharps and our best players signed asap. And with a few signings, we may do ok!

I bet the Board were absolutely made up when the three wins came along - it made the decision relatively easy for the Board in the end.

The appointment may not suit all fans but the decision has been backed up with solid evidence.

Three wins on the bounce and the performances improved beyond belief.

This could be a great pairing for our club. Interesting to see how the Community Trust side will be dealt with now too

The key to our success, is in developing our own players from youth team to first team
( we will have 3 in the squad, next year, Hughes and the Two young, full backs), getting good players in, who have been released by league teams. (Hennegan etc) and spotting good, young players, in the lower leagues. (Astles's etc).
We cant buy experienced players, like the 'money bag' clubs. So, we will have to find and develop, them.
No-doubt, the board are aware of this and McCarthy and Sharps, will be looking to develop, all these areas.
What about a meet the manager session, with the fans?

Chester appoint Jon McCarthy as their new manager, following a spell as caretaker boss after Steve Burr's dismissal.

I was initially very sceptical about McCarthy taking over, effectively putting most of the blame on Burr. However seeing the improvement in the team, especially attitude, has made me change my mind. It looks to be the sensible choice

Get Hannah on the phone Jon!

Can't say I was overly happy with him being made the interim boss but it's very difficult to argue with the decision. His performance has warranted this opportunity.

The hard work starts now, I'd hope he's on the phone today and compiling a list of targets for the summer.

Congratulations Jon and Ian all the best!

Heartily agree with all the above, Jon and assistant will need all the support he can get from us,it won't be any easier than last season, another two fully pro clubs to join the rest.
I really hope that the fans will be patient, especially at the start of the season.
With the reduced budget and some tough sides again I would settle for a mid-table finish plus a cup run in one of the cups.

If we aim for the stars we may hit the roof,I don't want to hear the word Budget mentioned again!! Budgets should be for Chancellors and Minge bags and are often the excuse for many a poor manager.
We need hard work and team spirit.
