The last 3 major polls:~ The General Election, The Membership of the European Union Referendum and the USA Presidential Election were all fundamentally wrong. Do they really justify their existence? Are people being deliberately dishonest? Who funds them and is it wasted money? Should there be a moratorium on them? Are they corrupting the democratic process?

I think one of the major problems for the polls is that a lot of people don't make up their minds until the last minute nowadays. A possible reason for this is all this social media nonsense (I'm a non SM guy!) which appears to effect people more than their own thoughts! Also in the US the incredibly low turnout had a large effect, a lot of soft Clinton supporters decided not to vote at all, little did they know what that would lead to!

I would ban polls in the last 2-3 weeks of all votes, but I suspect that will never happen.

I actually agree, I would ban them to nearer to Elections, then some voters hopefully will not be influenced by them.

How would you go about banning asking people who they're going to vote for?

Just don't allow them to be published, they obviously don't tell the truth anyway! rolleyes.gif
