Classless and disgraceful behaviour from Tranmere Rovers to sell Alabi before sorting out the situation regarding compensation. Mark Palios is obviously an owner lacking in decency and integrity.

This is a joke from the league - can you imagine the flak if a player was to relegate his former team while a problem like this is unresolved.
It places the player and his former club in a really horrible position

The club as they are owed money and the player has to deal with loads of agro

Really unprofessional behaviour from a guy who is/was respected at the highest levels in the game

It is very hard to respect Mark Palios when he and Tranmere Rovers have acted in such an unprofessional way from the start. Trying to shaft a fellow football club who are very near neighbours can not be a good idea on any level.

I don't see it that way at all. The two clubs simply don't agree on the valuation of the player. Our beef should be with the FA who are taking a ridiculously long time to sort this matter out.

Mark Palios was the CEO at the FA and presumably has a number of 'friends' there. Loaning Alabi out to Dover in October and trying to sell him to Ebbsfleet now with the matter unresolved paints Palios and Tranmere in a very poor light. Totally disgraceful in my opinion.

I am pretty sure if this was a dispute over land, you would not be able to sell it until the courts decided who owned the land in the first place.

However..

I really don't apportion any blame to Tranmere though, we were owed compensation, not a fee for the player, any level of compensation can be agreed between the two parties which isn't always agreeable, a lot of civil claims cases can take years before a court decides on the level of compensation.
They didn't agree to our price, and vice versa, Tranmere are hardly going to keep paying Alabi if he is surplus to requirements.
The blame here lays solely at the feet of the FA, its really neither clubs fault the FA are so poorly organized.

Firstly the word compensation is used but it equates to a fee. Secondly Palios ran the FA for a number of years so he must be in part responsible if you think it is a shambles. Thirdly Tranmere have obviously done an excellent job in getting people do believe it is not their fault. The FA did not loan Alabi out to Dover or try to sell him to Ebbsfleet did they ?

Proof that a week is also a long time in football -

Monday
Tranmere announce that 'James Alabi has extended his loan with Dover Athletic until the end of the season'.

Tuesday
Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon said: "We've got to do the paperwork tomorrow but everything's agreed with us, Tranmere and James".

Thursday
Tranmere manager Micky Mellon said "It's a wee bit on and off. As we sit here, right at this minute in time, it's not going to happen. So until I know anything more concrete than that, that's really all I can say. He's still at Dover and, I don't know, maybe Ebbsfleet have jumped the gun on it before it's actually agreed.

Friday
Dover manager Chris Kinnear said "It’s down to Tranmere, Ebbsfleet and the FA. We aren’t sure, there are letters going around all over the shop.
He has left us and made that quite clear. He just didn’t turn up for training one day. That’s football and you just move on. We will try and get other players in. We weren’t told and there were pictures of him going to Ebbsfleet. We find out after the pictures are in the papers.”

any fee paid should be paid directly to us, although he is a Tranmere player, they haven't paid us a penny compensation and have dragged it out to our demise
