Does anybody remember Nigel Walker?
He played in the 84/85 season We signed him from Sunderland and his stats were played 41 and scored 9 He moved on to Hartlepool after the one season Anyway my mate knows his wife and he is quite unwell at the moment So I am sure that we all will wish him a speedy recovery -------------------- Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body.

Remember him well . . . good player. Sorry to hear he's not well. Started at Newcastle and played a fair few games for them.

I remember Nigel. A classy inside forward/midfielder and if I remember correctly he got a hat-trick in his last match. He was the penalty taker and played alongside Stuart Rimmer.
Hope he gets well soon. |

Certainly do remember Nigel Walker, he scored the winner against the goats for starters!
Only recently posted this in the Andy Holden thread... ![]() Just checking my other pages and he scored quite a few that season including a hatrick at Swindon in a 4-4 draw. All the best for a speedy recovery Nigel ![]() This post has been edited by Mr W: Jan 26 2014, 11:58 PM -------------------- Sup Ale, watch Togger.

Remember Nigel Walker scoring 2 pearlers against Port Vale in his season with us. I seem to remember they were both curling efforts from around the edge of the box, 1 from a direct free kick (?). Very skillful player.
hope he gets well soon! |

Very sad, before my time following the Blues, but sounded a player who was appreciated by the fans.

Very sad, before my time following the Blues, but sounded a player who was appreciated by the fans. Yes Che - I think that 84/85 team eventually brought a bit of enjoyment to the fans after a fair few years of mediocrity (or worse). The likes of Walker, Fox, Hildersley, Holden, Dixon, Lane and latterly Speight, Greenhough and of course Rimmer really made the season greadually turn into a fairly reasonable one, avoiding almost inevitable re-election and playing some decent stuff. Seemed to me the players really appreciated the (all to few) fans too at this time. We also had local lads like Pete Bulmer and Dave Brett coming through and randoms like Andy Wharton, who only seemed an average player but certainly pulled out his tripe for the team. To be fair John McGrath brought in some great lads on a shoestring budget and we just didn't get the breaks early that season. I think it was Speight who took over half way through and he was great with the fans. RIP Nigel |
