Seems Chorley are going to be serious contenders for promotion from our division Gary Flitcroft has assembled a squad to really test ours he has a mixture of youth and experience with a few having league experience notably Matt Jansen if we can beat Chorley iam sure it would be a good indication as to where we will end up.

Just a quick word on Chester - a contact in the game with his ear very close to the ground told me they have a wage bill of £4k plus a week, which is on a par with what Halifax were spending last season! The pressure is all on them to win the league in that case

they were getting very small gates last season (around 200 a game) didn't publish attendances for the preston or Bolton pre season games ???

I think the board have said a few times that the budget is based on average crowds of 1100, so as long as we can stick to that there shouldn't be a problem. And if the team plays well, the gates should improve

The budget could be four grand if Morecambe to the games.

Half the posts on this thread assume that Chorley have a 4K per week salary budget, the other half assume it's us that has this budget!

That could be a lot for either club.

Just a thought but since the majority of the players signed so far were playing in the Unibond Div 1 last year the CFC wage bill shouldn't be much different to any of the other teams playing at that level. Unless some of the players have been given enormous pay rises to entice them into signing.

Highly unlikely in our case. Chester Football Club sells itself. Great stadium, fan base, financial backing , do i need to go on...

I think we'll get a lot more than that. It's Chorley who average less than 300 according to Wikipedia.

Edit: the link doesn't work - there's a full stop on the end which won't copy for some reason.

Anyway, here's Chorley's average gates cut and paste from Wikipedia...

Average attendances

2008-09: 271
2008-09: 263
2007-08: 343
2006-07: 230
2005-06: 195
2004-05: 207

For some reason, there's two lots of figures for 2008-09 (?)

looking at the players you have signed and knowing a bit about what welsh premier players can earn then £4K a week wage budget sounds about right.

They've just signed Jamie Vermiglio from us. One of our better players in the BSN last season and he's taken a two league drop to play for them.
