Striker Jordan Archer has left Chester FC today to sign for Bury on a two-year contract. With us being short in depth of strikers, I would’ve liked him to stay this season as he would be a key player for us. We haven’t really witnessed the best of him just yet, although he was one of our brightest spots last season. However, the lad has a lot of potential with him having a decent scoring record and good pace. Hopefully he will gain regular football at Bury which will aid his development a lot. In a way though, it would’ve been a tad unfair letting him stay here as he openly admitted that he wanted to be playing full-time football. He gave up his day job to sign for us on a full-time contract last October unaware of what was to happen financially so nobody can really blame him for leaving us. However, this is another positive deal financially for us as we will be receiving a fee for this. I wish the lad all the best for the future as he was one of a hand-full who fought for the jersey last season. For now though, it’s essential that we snap up at least 3 more strikers as due to Archer leaving we no longer have a fully recognisable striker. I have faith in Bern and Jonno that they can identify the right men. Good luck for the rest of your career Jordan Archer!
