With our fixtures set to be released on Wednesday, I thought it would be a nice idea to create a thread where all predictions can be posted. Although our opening match didn’t go ahead last year in farcical circumstances, we have technically started our previous two seasons away (at Gateshead and Solihull Moors). I think the National League North fixtures are compiled via a special computer to avoid any possible errors, one being that all teams can’t start a season at home/away for more than 2 consecutive years as that will be unfair. With us scheduled to start our last two seasons away, it’s very likely that our first match of this season will be at home. In my opinion I would love a good away day to get us up and running, but at the same time a vocal home support would help our team’s morale a lot.

Anyway, apologies if I went on a bit of a tangent, but who do you think we will be playing against on August 4th?
I think that we will lock horns against Boston United at the Deva; a steady start.

What about Chorley for our first game? Or would that create too many problems? Well, we will need to face them twice during the season and so it would be good to get through one of them early and at home..

Long distance travel for the early fixtures ... so Blyth or Brackley for me.

I think that these fixtures are decent to be honest. We have a favourable start with a home match against Spennymoor then 2 away games at Curzon Ashton and Blyth Spartans, all winnable games. The remaining 4 in August look tougher but should all be crackers. September looks fairly good along with October which consists of a trip to Bootham Crescent. November is in our favour, but December looks tricky. Still though, they should all be great games especially Southport on Boxing Day. January and February seem alright whilst a home match to Stockport should be class in March. Bar York at home, our run-in seems to be in favour of us again. I’m really looking forward to this season now, with a lot of local away games to look forward to. COYB!
