We now turn our attentions to the FA Trophy, as we take on National League South side East Thurrock United away tomorrow. We are currently in a good run of form in the league, and the players have looked loads more confident so hopefully we will deliver tomorrow. East Thurrock are currently mid-table in the league below us, and have been quite inconsistent this season. However, Kidderminster were in a similar position when we played them back in October, and look what happened there . It would be great to progress to the third round and claim some much-needed money too. I wouldn’t be too bothered if it ends up going into a replay at our place either. As long as we win the tie, then that would do me fine. I will be trekking it down to Essex tomorrow morning, and am certainly looking forward to it. Personally, you can’t beat an away cup tie. Hopefully the players will play to their best and avoid a banana skin tomorrow. Come On You Blues!
Score: East Thurrock United 0-2 Chester FC (Roberts, White)
Attendance: 473 (151 Chester)
COYB!

cant take anything for granted today, the league they are in is very strong plus they thrashed Aldershot in the last round, having said that I am predicting a 4-1 win to Chester, only because I need the points on > Predict-a-score!

Subs: Lynch, Mahon, Rowe-Turner, Crawford, Roberts.

Hall-Johnson injured, apparently. Looks like an attacking team!

Pathetic I am afraid. A lot of people running the club need to consider their positions having put together the worst squad of players we have ever hard because they are a gutless and spineless bunch.

Disgusting. We got what we deserved really. No players showed any fight at all. The performance really was gutless. I was saying to a few fans before the game that I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Kidderminster all over again, and we did for most parts of the game. Hardly any of the players looked like winners whatsoever. Also, the style of play was shocking too. All we did was play the ball long, and hardly played it on the floor. Fair play to East Thurrock though, they did put their bodies on the line and fully deserved the victory. It’s not the best of grounds but the village was lovely, and the locals were very friendly. I had a brief chat with their manager for 10 minutes and he was nice too.
The tackle from Gary Roberts was nasty, though. He did win some of the ball but he sent their player flying. Gary was barely on for 5 minutes, then he lost his head.
Today’s defeat really is embarrassing. For one, we’ve lost out on £7,000 and 2, the players didn’t put heart in at all. If their is a positive, then at least we focus on our very small chance of survival. I would say that we took about 150 down there today. A terrific number from our superb supporters who don’t deserve to be watching this. Where were the 300 from Blacon though??

I have not been to a single game this season, cant be bothered with it all. Results like this confirm I'm better off at home !

Very disappointed to lose this one, especially after our recent good away form. At least, as they say, we can concentrate on the league now.

I'd like to wish East Thurrock United all the best for the rest of the competition, and hope they get another home draw in the next round guiness.gif

I haven't either, or last season. Season before I had a season ticket and went to the first home game of the season. Didn't bother after sitting through that crap.
Not been on here for a good few years either and nothing has changed.
How very sad. A supporter since 1976, loved the reformation, loved the lower leagues and we are now back to "normal". Crap squad, seemingly no direction off the pitch and seemingly doomed to relegation.

Signing off now. We are still s**t and I still know we are.

From a Chester supporter from afar (I live in Adelaide, South Australia) these constant reports of poor or just dreadful performances by the team are baffling. There must be an underlying cause for this! What is it? Then, for example, in the case of the Gary Roberts sending off, was this just bad temper or just trying too hard? Explanations would be welcomed because these performances are so depressing for everyone and especially so after recent games which showed such promise. There has to be a cause for poor performances. I assume they are getting paid!

Just watched footage of the sending off. Perfectly timed challenge ... *** help us if this is the state of the game today that that justifies a red card.
