Very sad, and not looking good at all for them,a good old traditional club and I hope they survive.

From a selfish perspective, I dont think they will be challenging for the title this years, so perhaps one less to overcome.

Ground share with Witton on the cards? Cant really seem them surviving if they move anywhere further away as their crowds are already quite low

Bailiffs went to club yesterday and served them with notice to vacate Victoria Stadium -

You've got to feel sorry for them. Yes, we want to win the league - but not like this. They've got such a long tradition as well. I hope they survive.

But I wonder who has bought the ground? Bit of a mystery that.

Somebody called Pilsbury apparently. ph34r.gif

All joking aside, it seems Vics are falling apart but it looks like they were always on shaky foundations if they were leasing a ground of a receiver who was actively trying to sell the land.
Maybe it's time for for a merger with Witton. To have two semi decent clubs in Northwich isn't really tenable.

Further to the above; the lease is superseded by any arrangement to sell the land.

Why would they let us? We had to go to Alty last time this happened 2 years ago.

They already have a big store in town. So do Sainsbury's. There are two people I am worried it could be. One is SV, the other is Witton. Witton had offers on their ground for housing development not so long ago.

Spare a thought for Northwich Villa from the Northwest Counties League who will also be made homeless as a result of this.

Its mad that a ground that was only opened in 2005 is already under threat.

Could this have anything to do with todays announcement: Link
Could it be that this american investor got sick of waiting for Jim Rushe to pull his finger out on this project (its been over a year with no progress) and has just bought the land outright to do what he wants with?

Begs the question what happens if they get promoted?. Any ground they share will have to be up to BSN standards, which cuts the list of potential grounds down.

That's our unofficial reserve/u18 team and that's the least of our worries!

I thought they were a re-branding of Woodley FC acting as a feeder club for Northwich than your reserve squad. Either way its an extra bunch of players who now dont know where they will be playing their football for the foreseeable future. Given that these are part time players who may struggle with extra travelling time and costs to a ground share stadium this could have a devastating impact on the careers of several young footballers.

Yeah, I went to Witton for a mid-week match not long back and got chatting to one of their fans. He said they'd had an offer from a property developer to build on their ground. According to him, the deal would include a lump sum for their ground and the building of a new stadium for them.
Could they have just killed to birds with one stone and took over your place?

All the Witton and Northwich fans that I spoke to are dead against ground share, absolutely hate each other. For the size of the two clubs they should ground share if any common sense, but common sense and football dont go well together. Told a load of Northwich fans in their bar that this was going to happen which they smuggly laughed off, Rushe is a joke and cant be trusted.

A merger would never happen. A groundshare makes sense and I think the majority of Vics fans would have accepted this even before todays news. The problem would be that to be accepted the ground share would have to be on equal terms. Witton have a lot of capital in that they own their own ground. Us on the other hand are in debt and have nothing to bring to the table. I think most Vics fans would struggle to accept a long term deal where we would be tennants of Witton. Especially given the history of last time we shared (our stadium building over-ran and Witton charged us more than expected for playing an extra season at their ground).
On top of all this we are as bitter to them as you are with the goats!
